About this role
Emergency Department
Do you want to be part of a supportive community and feel joy and curiosity for each shift? In the Emergency Department, you will meet patients with a wide range of symptoms and needs.
Here, every staff member is important, collaboration among professional groups is close, and the desire to continuously improve both workplace environment and patient safety is a top priority. With us, you will make a significant difference.
Our team consists of nursing assistants, nurses, doctors, and administrative personnel. Most of the time, we work in a non-triage flow where patients are sorted by how ill they are rather than their organ specialization. We work in care teams with close collaboration between nursing staff and doctors, where each employee plays a crucial part in the whole. The Emergency Department includes the adult emergency room and the urgent care for children and adults. We receive 150-200 patients daily of all ages, ranging from wounds and minor fractures to sepsis alerts and cardiac arrests.
Specialist Physicians at Södertälje Hospital:
Södertälje Hospital is a smaller emergency hospital in Region Stockholm with specialized care in emergency medicine, geriatrics, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics-gynecology, orthopedics, pediatrics, palliative care, and urology. Emergency medicine has long been one of Södertälje Hospital's cornerstones. We manage everything from trauma patients to children every year. The Emergency Department oversees the emergency room and the fully integrated urgent care, and we work without triage.
Over the past two years, the emergency room has undergone extensive changes and has become a new independent operational area. We have also moved into new premises and implemented new working methods. We strive for a smooth and medically safe flow for all our patients, with extra focus on seriously ill patients and those over 80 years old. Our journey continues toward becoming the best emergency room we can be!
As a specialist physician in the emergency department, you will work as the attending physician in both the Emergency Department and Urgent Care, and you will often hold a leadership role as the lead physician. You are expected to actively participate in mentoring and teaching our training physicians (interns, residents in emergency medicine, and pediatric residents). You will also take on a medical area of responsibility where you are expected to stay updated on the latest within your area of responsibility and to disseminate new knowledge to other staff within the Emergency Department.
Your Personal Qualities:
It is important that you are stress-resistant and flexible in your thinking, possessing good communication and teamwork skills. We work in teams with doctors, nurses, and nursing assistants, making your position within the group and the dynamics it creates important. You are interested in developing the working methods of emergency care and, not least, the role of emergency physicians within emergency medicine. You want to be part of a smaller group of physicians where each member makes a difference and is expected to contribute.
Great emphasis is placed on your personal qualities in this recruitment process.
Your Qualifications:
You are a specialist physician in Emergency Medicine. Teaching and mentoring experience as well as work experience from Södertälje Hospital's emergency department are advantageous.
Employment Type:
Full-time, permanent. The job title will be determined by previous experience such as research merits, teaching qualifications, and years of service as a specialist physician (Specialist Physician, Assistant Chief Physician, or Chief Physician).
Recruitment for this position is ongoing throughout the application period.
