About this role
Helping people achieve better health is one of the most important missions one can have. At Södra Älvsborg Hospital (SÄS), we are 3,700 employees with 120 different professions who contribute to this every day. What role do you want to play?
Regardless of your role, we can offer you a meaningful, secure, and developmental job where you make a difference for others. Our employees often describe SÄS as a "just the right size hospital" – large enough for career development and small enough to foster a sense of community across departments. We have a forward-thinking spirit, and there are always exciting initiatives and research underway to improve care for our patients and meet future challenges in healthcare.

About our job opening
As a specialist physician/senior physician in our neonatal department, you will play a central role in our care flow within neonatology. Together with other physicians and staff on both the neonatal unit and the women's clinic, you will work in a collaborative team, responsible for children admitted to us as well as those in maternity and delivery.
Your responsibilities will include supervising resident physicians and medical students, as well as training other staff. We work closely and flexibly within our physician group. We create our own schedules, which usually allows for smooth solutions that fit with life outside of work.
Our area of operation (VO) for women and children places a strong emphasis on research and development and is currently preparing an application to become a university hospital unit. If you are interested, there are good prospects for conducting research alongside clinical duties. Our newly established and modern Knowledge Center offers great opportunities to practice clinical skills for both professionals and teams.
About us
The neonatal department at SÄS Borås, with over 3,000 births per year, is one of four departments in the region, where Drottning Silvias Children's Hospital, just 60 km away, provides highly specialized care for children from week 22+0, while we care for children from week 28+0. The four hospitals hold daily meetings to coordinate placements, with a central transport organization based in Gothenburg managing all transport of children between hospitals.
The department provides care around the clock, and in mid-January, we will move into completely new facilities for our modern integrated maternity/neonatal unit to further strengthen the co-care between children and parents. Home healthcare is also part of our operations and is managed by experienced nurses and pediatric nurses. We have a neonatal follow-up clinic in collaboration with our skilled physiotherapists, and we often get to know the families we meet there well. We work in teams within the department and have close collaboration with paramedics, physiotherapists, and other specialists. The size of our operation provides excellent opportunities to cultivate and maintain neonatal intensive care skills with many challenging cases, while also allowing time to conduct training, research, and enjoy each other's company.
You will be on-call with home duty, and in the primary on-call line, there are residents or specialists in pediatrics. Anesthesia has primary and secondary on-call coverage in-house. We regularly conduct so-called CEPS training (full-scale simulation in the care of newborns) with both our own staff and staff from the women's clinic and anesthesia, which establishes good preparedness even during on-call hours.
Your profile
You who are applying are a licensed physician with a specialist certificate in neonatology. You possess the practical skills expected of a neonatologist. You are proficient in Swedish at a level equivalent to C1. We value your ability to collaborate with others and your skill in communicating and building good relationships. Being able to understand others' perspectives and situations is fundamental in the work, both concerning patients, relatives, and colleagues. The work involves a fast pace and sudden changes, so we see that you thrive in such situations and are a natural problem solver. The ability to prioritize and set boundaries is important for the work to function well. Personal suitability is highly valued.
Other
We prioritize everyone's safety and require a background check for those offered employment.
We welcome your application today! Please attach your educational certificates.
