About this role
Together, we are developing Sahlgrenska University Hospital for a sustainable future. We are transforming healthcare with the goal of becoming Europe's leading university hospital by 2032. Together with patients, we work towards quality, accessibility, patient safety, research, education, and innovation – within an integrated healthcare system in the Västra Götaland Region. Our vision and goals aim towards the highest quality of care, always keeping the patient in focus. We offer healthcare locally and regionally, as well as highly specialized care to patients nationwide and internationally. Our employees are our strength, contributing to knowledge exchange nationally and internationally. With digital tools and new working methods, we can simplify daily hospital operations and offer modern, accessible, and highly efficient care.
About the Organization
The Neuropsychiatry department currently consists of 10 units, including memory clinic, Huntington's disease center, geriatric psychiatric inpatient ward 81/82, mobile teams for elderly and patients with BPSD, psychiatric clinic for patients with intellectual disabilities and psychiatry for deaf and hearing-impaired patients, autism psychiatric clinic, east and west neuropsychiatric clinics, and eating disorders clinic and inpatient ward.
The organization has a strong research environment, particularly in memory-related diseases and pharmaceutical trials linked to Alzheimer's disease.
Our aim is to be a model in Swedish adult psychiatry regarding person-centered work and offering evidence-based treatments and assessments.
World-leading research is conducted here, connected to memory-related diseases with ongoing pharmaceutical trials for Alzheimer's disease. At the memory clinic, an exciting development is underway where we hope to offer treatment to slow Alzheimer's disease in the future. Here, you can participate in developing healthcare, currently working on creating a fast-track assessment for Alzheimer's disease. You'll have the opportunity to engage with the latest dementia research, teach and supervise medical students/AT/ST doctors, and work in a team alongside nurses, caregivers, neuropsychologists, counselors, and occupational therapists.
What Do We Offer?
We are an organization that wants to involve you as a clinician in designing and developing our outpatient and inpatient care to meet society's evolving requirements. We have a positive work environment, engaged and competent colleagues, and short decision-making paths. Working with us should be enjoyable and developmental. Our patient group is complex, with both somatic and psychiatric conditions, which sets high demands but also provides excellent opportunities for your professional growth.
You will have the opportunity to engage in research and can specialize further in geriatric psychiatry.
Job Responsibilities
As a specialist, you will primarily work at our outpatient clinic, where you'll use a clear structure and an engaged team to conduct assessments of patients with cognitive degenerative diseases. You'll see patients and their families, examining their cognitive, psychiatric, and somatic health conditions, which may include extended assessments with lumbar puncture, advanced radiology, and genetic testing. We expect you to have an interest in clinical dementia assessments and, like us, be passionate about developing care for these individuals.
Your role will also include participating in on-call duties and being scheduled in our inpatient/community care team during vacation periods.
