Make a difference. Every day.
The Radiation Therapy and Isotope Therapy Department in Lund is now seeking a specialist physician in Oncology/Radiology (with a potential focus on MR Linac). Here, we treat patients from the entire Southern Healthcare Region and are one of Sweden's larger radiotherapy centers. The unit provides external beam radiation therapy, brachytherapy, and isotope therapy. We participate in the national collaboration on proton therapy and plan selected patients for proton therapy in Uppsala.
We have 17 specialist physicians in the radiation therapy unit, about half of whom are active researchers on a part-time basis. Several of the physicians are involved in national and international collaborations on radiation therapy. Additionally, we run a national course in radiotherapy for oncology residents, which is highly appreciated. We have procured an MR-Linac that is planned to be in place by September 2026, where both research and clinical operations will be conducted. Some of our physicians will work with MR Linac, and we therefore need to strengthen the group. This is an opportunity for a new colleague to work with MR-Linac or to allow another colleague to be freed up for this purpose.
The department is part of the area of operations (VO) for Hematology, Oncology, and Radiation Physics and is a highly specialized operation with approximately 900 employees offering cancer treatment to patients throughout the Southern Healthcare Region. We provide both inpatient and outpatient oncology care in Lund, Malmö, Helsingborg, Kristianstad, and Ystad.
We are a research-intensive organization aiming to improve care, and our research is conducted in close collaboration with Lund University. Furthermore, we work on the education of future nursing assistants, nurses, medical secretaries, physicians, and researchers.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We welcome a specialist physician in oncology or radiology (with an interest in oncology) to the Radiation Therapy and Isotope Therapy Department within the VO for Hematology, Oncology, and Radiation Physics. The position focuses on external beam radiation therapy.
You will serve in the radiation therapy unit in Lund, where there is an opportunity to specialize in one or more of our diagnostic groups, on brachytherapy, or on work with the MR Linac project. In addition to clinical duties, the role includes organizational development work, quality improvement, and supervision of students and residents. The position fundamentally involves 100% clinical service and can be combined with your own research. For those interested in research and development related to MR-Linac, and with appropriate qualifications, there is an opportunity to receive project funding for part-time research in this field for one or several years.
