Svea Court of Appeal is the largest court of appeal in the country, with approximately 450 employees. The court's premises are beautifully located on Riddarholmen in central Stockholm. The main task of the court is to review cases and matters that have been appealed from the district courts within its jurisdiction. The court consists of nine adjudicating divisions, including seven general divisions that handle criminal and civil cases, as well as two specialized divisions.
One of the specialized divisions is Division 2, where the Patent and Market Court of Appeal is established as a separate court. In addition to the areas of law related to the Patent and Market Court of Appeal, Division 2 is particularly focused on tenancy law, arbitration law, and extensive general dispositive civil cases. The division also handles other general dispositive civil cases as well as so-called miscellaneous cases and matters.
Job Description
Svea Court of Appeal is seeking a lawyer for a position in Division 2 as a specialist rapporteur with a focus on arbitration law.
Although the current position is specifically aimed at arbitration cases, the handling of other types of cases, including general civil cases and tenancy cases, will also be part of the responsibilities.
As a specialist rapporteur, you will monitor the development of law in the field of arbitration, participate in case law reviews and internal training within the area of law, work to further develop routines for efficient preparation of arbitration cases, and contribute to compiling the division's case law in the field of arbitration. You will also provide special support to other colleagues in the preparation organization during the handling of arbitration cases and other types of cases. Additionally, you will prepare cases, conduct legal research, present cases for decision, and draft proposals for judgments or decisions. The role also includes acting as a minute-taker during main hearings in civil cases and oral hearings in tenancy cases.
Qualifications
Applicants for this position should have a background as a rapporteur, legal advisor, or law clerk, but other equivalent experience from qualified legal work in general courts or administrative courts may also be considered.
The position requires several years of professional experience as well as very good legal knowledge in the relevant areas of law and strong analytical skills. You must be able to express yourself very well in Swedish, both in writing and orally. A high sense of responsibility and strong commitment to your work are essential, along with the ability to work independently, systematically, and meticulously. You should have the ability to convey knowledge to others and be development-oriented, both regarding your own work situation and in the preparation of arbitration cases. Experience in handling arbitration cases may be an advantage.
The position also requires excellent collaboration skills, flexibility, and the ability to adapt smoothly to new tasks. Naturally, you should be able to interact with parties and colleagues in a correct and pleasant manner. Personal suitability is of great importance.
