We are seeking an IT and Information Security Specialist who wants to contribute to developing and maintaining a high security level for the entire University of Gothenburg. Job Responsibilities
YOUR ROLE WITH US
You will be a key person in the university's continued development of IT and information security. The role includes both operational and strategic work – from evaluating technical protection mechanisms to contributing to a comprehensive security framework.
You will, among other things:
• Work with and evaluate advanced IT security tools to protect information and detect and analyze intrusion and cyber attacks against users, systems, and networks.
• Proactively propose improvements in protection and controls to strengthen the university's cybersecurity.
• Further develop the university's information security management system (GU-LIS), based on the ISO 27000 series (2022 version).
• Provide support and advice regarding laws and regulations governing IT and information security, such as MSBFS 2020:6-8.
• Contribute to the university's adaptation to the upcoming cybersecurity law taking effect in 2026.
• Strengthen the university's security culture through education, communication, and support to the organization.
Qualifications
ABOUT YOU

You are structured, responsible, and able to both collaborate and work independently. You communicate clearly, attentively, and ensure expectations are clear for all involved parties.
To succeed in the role, you need to have the following qualifications:
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar role within IT and information security (experience within the last 10 years).
• Broad IT technical background with good understanding of applications, systems, and networks.
• Experience with security tools such as EDR, NDR, SIEM, SOAR to monitor, detect, analyze, and manage security incidents.
• Knowledge of network architecture, protocols, and intrusion detection/prevention (IDS/IPS)
• Experience applying standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO27000 series) and conducting audits or analyses based on them.
• Good pedagogical ability and experience in holding training or workshops.
• Experience independently conducting risk analyses and proposing improvement measures
• Good ability to express yourself well in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing
It is meritorious if you have:
• Experience in procurement and evaluation of IT security solutions
• Experience in requirements specification for IT and information security
• Certification such as CISA, CISM, CISSP, or Lead Auditor ISO27001
• Experience with IT or information security work from the public sector, as a consultant or employee
Employment
The position is permanent and full-time, 100%, located at the IT department in central Gothenburg. Your job title will be IT Security Specialist. Start date as soon as possible by agreement.
Probationary employment may be applied. The university applies individual salary setting.
Good to Know
Employment may involve placement in a security class. A security review with register control according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may be conducted before employment decision or when employment begins. Some tasks in the security class require Swedish citizenship.
