About this role

Welcome to Vårdcentralen Vadstena and Vårdcentralen Marieberg, which since April 2025 have been a joint operational area. The change is intended to provide a robust operation that is prepared for the demographic challenges we face. The facilities currently have approximately 16,000 listed patients and a workforce of about 65 employees. This advertisement is directed towards Vadstena Healthcare Center, but work may be assigned within the joint organization. Our Offer Primary Care Center Östergötland consists of 33 region-operated healthcare centers, Healthcare Center Finspång, Child Healthcare Unit, 1177 and emergency centers during evenings and weekends, and General Practice Training Center. We conduct comprehensive primary care where we offer care to all throughout life; newborns, children, youth, adults, elderly, and patients in end-of-life care. We are a forward-looking organization with a strong focus on good work environment, development, and well-being. We actively work to create conditions for a sustainable work life while maintaining a development-inspired approach to meet future challenges in primary care. We offer excellent development opportunities for those who want to advance in their profession, become a manager, or progress through specialization or research. We are seeking someone interested in driving and developing the healthcare center's work, utilizing new digital technology, and engaging patients through a person-centered approach. This is a position where you will work alongside District Physicians and doctors at various stages of training in both Marieberg and Vadstena to create the new joint organization. We want to work with close-care models and collaborate with other actors to create high-quality patient-centered care. Please also read about the region's career ladder for physicians and the benefits we offer. Job Description We are seeking a specialist physician in general practice for our medical clinic. The position includes standard reception work within the primary care mandate such as medical consultations, child healthcare, and consultations with home healthcare and special housing facilities. The scope and distribution of these assignments can be somewhat tailored to your individual interests. You will participate in on-call duties, including joint primary care emergency center shifts and backup on-call lines. Part of your working time will be dedicated to supervising less experienced colleagues such as AT/ST physicians and medical students, scheduled at specific times. If you as a physician see potential in digitalization and new technology, we want to create space for adopting new methods and working approaches. We aim to promote innovative primary and close-care models while providing opportunities to interact with patients through alternative methods, such as video consultations and monitoring of certain chronic diseases. Work Group There is a physician manager employed who works with the physician group to create a good work environment, considering both group and individual perspectives. Together, they seek new ways to ensure patient safety and teamwork across all professional categories. Currently, we have permanent district physicians at both healthcare centers, along with 6 ST physicians and licensed/junior physicians. We offer an excellent work climate with professional employees working in well-functioning teams. We believe you will appreciate alternating between the small healthcare center's advantages of short decision-making paths and close collaboration with all employees, and the slightly larger Healthcare Center in Motala, which houses a training reception. We value your development and competence, therefore offering continuous further education. The healthcare center's physicians also participate in primary and backup on-call assignments for the western county section during on-call hours. More information about working with us can be found here. About You The requirement for the position is that you are a specialist in general practice or another adjacent specialty such as geriatrics or internal medicine, with an interest in general practice that the employer deems equivalent. You must have a Swedish medical license (to be attached to the application) and Swedish language skills corresponding to level C1. Good communication skills with patients, colleagues, and other organizations are essential. Experience in primary care is meritorious. As a person, you are social, self-confident, and personally mature. You collaborate easily and have a good ability to structure your work. You have a strong commitment to the general practice approach and preferably a special interest in our elderly patients and their specific needs. You contribute to a positive work climate with a professional attitude, working in teams to solve challenges together and acting in accordance with decisions, policies, and guidelines. We place great importance on your personal qualities. Application and Employment The application should include a complete physician merit compilation found here. This must be verified. Do not forget to attach a copy of your diploma or license. We work with continuous selection, and interviews will also be conducted on an ongoing basis, so please submit your application as soon as possible.
