About this role

We are Mjölby Municipality. Together, we provide services and functions, act as community builders, and execute authority responsibilities. Our work benefits society with the citizen's well-being in focus – throughout their lives. The Department of Community Building is one of the six departments of Mjölby Municipality, responsible for several central societal functions. With approximately 450 employees, we work on planning, development, and management of the municipality's infrastructure, properties, parks, and outdoor environments. The department is also responsible for water and sewage operations, waste management, meal services, cleaning, and emergency services. The fire services in Mjölby and Boxholm collaborate under the common name Fire Service Mjölby/Boxholm. In operational emergency services, the Chief of Emergency Services has overarching responsibility for six incident leaders and five shifts, each consisting of a crew leader and four firefighters. At the part-time station in Skänninge, there are three shifts with two part-time firefighters each. In the preventive work aimed at accident protection, the Chief of Emergency Services has the overall responsibility for systematic fire protection work directed at municipal departments and companies in the municipality. The fire service also has an external training department led by a training manager. Do you want a varied and challenging job where you, as a firefighter, participate in and are responsible for many different types of tasks? WORKING DUTIES No day is the same, and we are looking for someone who wants a varied job where one day you stand in front of a group to instruct, and the next day you respond to operational emergency calls. This requires good proficiency with different types of tools, as well as comfort in speaking to groups, large and small. You will participate operationally in all emergency responses or assignments as well as exercises. You will take part in or lead certain exercises/trainings for other staff. You will contribute to the fire service's accident prevention efforts, including information dissemination, training, study visits, etc. You will participate or, in some cases, be responsible for work within the fire service's core or support processes, such as exercise activities, vehicles, rescue equipment, electrical and telecommunication work, etc. Additionally, you will be involved in the fire service's daily operations both at and outside the station. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for candidates with at least three semesters from a two-year post-secondary education in accident prevention (SMO) or equivalent full/part-time training according to the older education system. You meet the medical requirements for smoke and chemical diving. You are certified as a smoke diver according to AFS 2007:7 (please attach a passing treadmill test at 5.0 km/h at an 8-degree incline to your application). You have swimming proficiency equivalent to the gold badge (please attach a certificate no more than three months old). You possess a valid driver's license B (C license is an asset). You have practical skills adapted to the various tasks that may arise during operational interventions. You can follow instructions, procedures, legal requirements, and policies while adhering to set timelines. You have the ability to work with others; to listen, show empathy, and respect. You are humble and recognize and reward the contributions of others. You can speak clearly and exude credibility and confidence. You have the capability to deliver presentations, lectures, and training sessions, adapting them according to the audience's needs and feedback. You can perform well in a high-pressure environment and handle challenging situations. You maintain a positive outlook in the face of challenges and have the ability to accept and learn from criticism. We are a reliable and sustainable employer. Large enough to offer good working conditions and exciting development opportunities, yet small enough for close collaboration, participation, and influence. With a focus on our mission to benefit society, we allow room for personal responsibility and creativity. Together, we drive the municipality and sustainable community development forward. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Our municipality is growing and home to approximately 28,600 residents. We are close to one another and to the rest of the world, with excellent communications. Mjölby Municipality’s vision is summarized in a slogan: “Worldly wise yet at home.” "Worldly wise" stands for openness, innovation, a willingness to grow, and belief in the future. "At home" represents pride and joy in our hometown. Living a good life here is easy. In your application, please attach relevant education certificates and diplomas that support your CV.
