About this role
Oncology Clinic, County Hospital Ryhov, Jönköping
Working at the Oncology Clinic offers you the opportunity to work in a wonderful and welcoming workplace where you contribute to meaningful and patient-safe care.
Nursing Assistant/Care Assistant Role
The Oncology Clinic at County Hospital Ryhov is seeking summer temporary nursing assistants/care assistants for the care unit, oncology reception, day care unit, and radiation therapy.
• At the care unit, you will work alternately with oncology patients and patients in palliative care beds. You are part of a team with doctors, nurses, and nursing assistants working with a person-centered approach. Together with a nurse, you have care responsibility for a patient group. Since we provide 24-hour care, work hours can be during the day, evening, night, and weekends.
• Oncology Reception: As a nursing assistant/care assistant, you are responsible for all incoming calls, handling and distributing them according to routine. You also assist with various checks and examinations. Some inventory management is also included. Work hours are during the day on weekdays.
• Day Care Unit: Patients with various cancer diagnoses are treated here. As a nursing assistant/care assistant, you work in a team with nurses and doctors. You receive outpatient patients who will receive antitumoral treatments. This includes performing basic care, measuring vital parameters, changing dressings, and assisting with PICC line insertions. Some inventory management is also included. Work hours are during the day on weekdays.
• Radiation Therapy: As a nursing assistant/care assistant, you work in a team with nurses, hospital physicists, and doctors. You will actively participate in patient care by assisting nurses during radiation treatment and performing basic care. After training, you will be responsible for starting up and performing morning checks on treatment equipment and irradiating blood products. You maintain order in our waiting rooms and staff rooms. Work hours are during the day on weekdays.
Summer jobs are limited full-time employment. The care unit, reception, and day care unit need summer replacements in weeks 26-33. Radiation therapy needs staff during weeks 25-33. It is an advantage if you can work many – or all – of these weeks. Region-wide introduction occurs beyond these weeks, and we appreciate if you can also be trained during the spring.
Your Future Workplace
The Oncology Clinic receives patients from the entire county with cancer diseases. The clinic works with non-surgical treatment of solid tumors. Follow-up and care of patients with treatment-related side effects, patients needing inpatient treatment, and palliative patients (regardless of diagnosis) are also part of the clinic's activities.
