About this role
Orthopedic Clinic, County Hospital Ryhov, Jönköping
Nursing Role
The Orthopedic Clinic is seeking summer substitute nurses for Ward A and the outpatient clinic. Ward A provides care for patients with acute orthopedic injuries and diseases requiring treatment and remains open during the summer. The clinic also has Ward B for patients undergoing planned surgeries, which will be closed during the summer.
As a summer employee on Ward A, you will work with medication management, documentation, and medical technical equipment. You will be responsible for nursing care, pre- and post-operative care, patient mobilization, and care and monitoring of patients with epidural catheters, nerve blocks, and patient-controlled pain management. Your work shifts will include days, evenings, and weekends.
At the orthopedic outpatient clinic, patients with musculoskeletal pain (muscles, tendons, bones, and joints) are assessed. We also follow up on patients being treated for fractures. As a summer employee at the outpatient clinic, you will work with telephone consultations, have your own wound care reception, and perform other nursing tasks. Work hours are during weekday daytime.
Summer jobs are full-time, time-limited positions. We need summer substitute nurses during weeks 25-33. It is advantageous if you can work many – or all – of these weeks. Regional common introduction occurs outside these weeks, and we appreciate if you can also shadow during the spring. You will receive pay during both introduction and shadowing periods.
Your Future Workplace
The Orthopedic Clinic at County Hospital Ryhov is Jönköping County's largest orthopedic clinic. We offer treatment, care, and rehabilitation for orthopedic diseases. The clinic is divided into general orthopedics and spine and neck surgery (neuroorthopedic center). We work for quality, competence, and respect in all interactions.
Approximately 150 people work at the orthopedic clinic. You will work in an exciting, constantly developing environment. You will be part of a team including nursing assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and doctors, where we value each other's knowledge and maintain a good community spirit.
Your Profile
We are seeking a licensed nurse or someone who will complete their nursing degree by June 2025.
To thrive with us, you should easily adapt to new conditions and take responsibility for your work. You should have good judgment, a structured approach, a positive attitude towards work and colleagues, good collaboration skills, and a professional approach. You must communicate clearly and maintain composure under pressure. Personal suitability is highly important.
Our Offer to You
We offer a summer job that will develop your competence and experience in nursing. We understand that being a beginner isn't always easy, so we will do our best to help you feel secure, motivated, and prepared. Before starting, you'll receive both a regional introduction for all summer substitutes and a thorough clinic-specific introduction tailored to your needs and experience.
For those continuing employment after summer, we offer participation in one of Sweden's best introduction and development programs for newly graduated nurses – RIU. The program includes 20 full days spread over eight months with lectures, observations, and reflections, providing an opportunity to meet other nurses in similar situations.
As an employee of Region Jönköping County, you'll access our employment benefits. Some increase your basic security, others add a touch of luxury. Benefits vary by employment type, working hours, and duration.
