About this role
Värmdö is the archipelago's meeting place with a unique combination of nature's serene beauty and a more urban lifestyle. Our mission is not one, but many: school, properties, social services, ports, healthcare, libraries, care, and many more. We work to ensure that all Värmdö residents can live a rich and free life. We want to be the ones who make possible the dream of a vibrant, secure environment for homes, families, and businesses.
To fully succeed, we must have diverse and extensive competencies and work together towards a common and trustful work culture, built on courageous, responsible employees who understand the needs and wishes of our residents.
Social Secretary for Family Care with Favorable Work-Life Balance – Experience Meaningful Work in Less Than 5 Days a Week!
Since January 2024, Värmdö Municipality has implemented a project where, during the period 2024-2026, we schedule work hours so that you as a social secretary work every 7th Friday.
On the other Fridays, you are off. The unit consists of social secretaries divided into investigation and intervention, family care, and family law groups, led by four group leaders and a unit manager. We are now seeking an engaged and experienced child secretary for family care.
Your primary task as a child secretary is to follow up on the care of the placed child, monitoring aspects such as schooling, health, and the child's well-being. This is primarily done through home visits to foster families, individual conversations with the placed child, and discussions with guardians. The child secretary also maintains the primary contact with the child's parents and network. The position involves independently managing and following up on a number of personal cases. Your team colleague, the foster family secretary, investigates, follows up, supports, and guides foster families. The work is led by a group leader for close support and external supervision is offered.
The Family Care group describes themselves as a bouquet of different personalities who enjoy working together, are flexible, and have an open atmosphere, where they like to take a walk together around the nearby beautiful lake during lunch.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Social Work degree
- At least 2 years of experience working with children and youth in social services (authority exercise)
- Driver's license is required as travel is part of the job
- Good administrative ability to express yourself well verbally and in writing
- Previous experience in foster family care is meritorious
To succeed in the role, you are flexible and able to create trusting relationships. As a person, we seek someone who is positive and solution-focused. You have a strong drive to do what is best for those we serve and for the organization as a whole, and you appreciate the varying pace of work. You dare to think innovatively and want to contribute to the organization's development work. We place great importance on your personal suitability for the position.
In Värmdö Municipality, in addition to scheduling free Fridays, we offer a range of benefits such as bright and pleasant facilities, free staff parking, and close leadership. We also offer a generous wellness allowance, SL card against net salary deduction, holiday exchange for extra vacation days. You can easily commute to us in 30 minutes by direct bus from Slussen, which runs every 10 minutes. If you choose to drive, the same distance takes about 20 minutes. We also actively work to create health-promoting workplaces with a good work environment and apply smoke-free working hours.
We value the qualities that diversity brings to the organization and therefore welcome applicants with different backgrounds, life experiences, and gender identities for this position.
The position is a permanent full-time employment, with start date by agreement or as soon as possible. Recruitment will be conducted continuously during the recruitment period.
