About this role

Your Assignment Due to an upcoming retirement, we are now seeking our future colleague. We are looking for a confident social worker with experience in meeting children and families in challenging situations and who has an interest in family law work. In the role of social secretary at the Family Law Unit, we investigate and handle custody, residence, and contact issues upon request from the District Court. We manage contact cases with contact support. We also work with adoptions and investigate and handle paternity and parenthood investigations. We work preventively through collaboration discussions with separated parents. These discussions can occur on behalf of the court or through parents' own application. The Family Law Unit also works with Children in Parents' Focus (BiFF), which is aimed at parents experiencing family law conflicts. All our work is based on a clear child perspective, grounded in the Parental Code and the Child Convention, with the goal of creating security for children and families. Workplace Description The Children and Youth Authority is part of the Individual and Family Care sector within the Children and Learning Sector. The unit is divided into four teams: Family Law, Reception Group, Investigation Group, and Care Follow-up. The unit is led by two unit managers and two senior social secretaries. Additionally, two social administrators help by assisting with certain administrative tasks. As a social secretary in the Family Law unit, you will be part of a team of three employees. We have regular case preparation meetings, regular external supervision together with family law units in Hälsingland, and the opportunity for vacation exchange. Your Competence Since this position involves authority work with children and youth, a completed social worker degree is required. You need to have very good knowledge of current legislation and a high understanding of the difference between preventive work and authority exercise. You document in a clear and well-structured manner and have good analytical skills. You maintain a high child perspective, are unpretentious, and can distinguish between matter and person. You have the ability to adapt your conversations to the people you meet. We prefer candidates with previous experience in investigative work within authority exercise and who have previously worked with family law issues. It is meritorious if you have training in BiFF, but other training/courses such as MI (Motivational Interviewing), mediation and conflict management, and/or children's rights can also be beneficial.
