About this role
Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now seeking you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Welcome to Us
We are now seeking a Social Worker for the Reception Group for Financial Assistance, a permanent position with the opportunity to help shape the future of social services.
You'll have the chance to be part of an exciting change journey within our administration, where we are introducing the new Social Services Act and working to create a more accessible, secure, and close social service for citizens. As a new employee, you will receive an individual introduction program, led by the unit's coordinator, to give you the best possible start in your new role. We support individuals towards self-sufficiency and work to create long-term solutions.
Workplace Description
The Financial Assistance Unit is part of the Adult Area within the Social Department. The unit has approximately 37 case managers in two groups: the Reception Group and the Investigation Group.
The Reception Group, which you will become part of, is the first point of contact for citizens seeking financial assistance. The Reception Group also includes a Housing Team, which focuses specifically on preventing evictions, supporting housing coordination, and offering housing coaching.
The Investigation Group is responsible for more in-depth investigations and assessments of financial assistance when cases require more comprehensive follow-up and long-term support.
Each group is led by a Unit Manager and Group Leader, who are responsible for the work environment, staff, and distribution of daily work.
The department is responsible for social services, care for people with disabilities, and preventive interventions. The workplace is located in modern premises in Hammarby Sjöstad.
We Offer
With us, you'll have a secure and developing work environment focused on both your professional and personal development.
Flex time and winter/summer work hours for a good work-life balance.
Generous wellness allowance.
Individual introduction program and opportunities for continuous skills development.
A workplace that values diversity and sees differences as a strength in meeting residents' needs.
Your Role
As a social worker in the reception group, you'll work closely with residents in need of support, focusing on self-sufficiency and social change work.
You will receive and provide clear information to citizens applying for financial assistance, investigate entitlement to assistance, assess needs, and make decisions according to current legislation. Cases are handled promptly with a focus on quality, legal certainty, and good judgment. You will collaborate both internally within the unit and administration and externally with relevant actors. The work is based on social services' dual mandate: supporting the individual towards self-sufficiency while assessing entitlement to assistance. In this role, it's important that you are professional, empathetic, and communicative, with the ability to see the big picture and analyze and solve problems in a structured manner.
Your Competence and Experience
Degree in Social Work (Social Work Degree).
Experience with official decision-making, preferably focused on financial assistance.
Comfort in documenting and handling cases correctly and according to regulations.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, both internally and externally.
Basic knowledge of Motivational Interviewing (MI).
We value personal qualities such as flexibility, stability, initiative, and an empathetic, respectful approach.
