Social Worker in Economic Assistance/Income Support

Adult Unit is part of the Labor Market and Economic Assistance area within the Social and Labor Market Administration in Borlänge Municipality. At our Adult Unit, we have strong collegial cohesion and our case workers possess both excellent knowledge and a very broad competence in areas of dependency, social psychiatry according to the Social Services Act, and economic assistance. We are a large unit with social workers and financial administrators, totaling approximately 50 employees and five Lead Social Workers. We have a management team consisting of a Unit Manager, two Deputy Unit Managers, and Lead Social Workers. The work involves exercising authority within social psychiatry according to the Social Services Act, dependency, and economic assistance. Our case workers are divided into teams. We believe in close and accessible leadership where each team is led by a Lead Social Worker. We have a team working on applications and issues in social psychiatry, a team working with dependency/addiction, four teams working with economic assistance/social welfare, a team working on incorrect payments, and a team working on estate administration and reclaiming. Our operation continuously develops to meet the needs of Borlänge residents by supporting and strengthening individuals to enter the job market and increase opportunities for self-sufficiency. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to follow an individual from their first application to achieving self-sufficiency. Primary work tasks as a social worker at the Adult Unit include investigating an individual's resources and obstacles to self-sufficiency. Processing and documenting applications for economic assistance/social welfare, investigating needs for labor market interventions, and following up on interventions. Making decisions according to the Social Services Act based on current delegation order. Working as a coach and support for the individual with the goal of achieving self-sufficiency through work, studies, or other compensation. Maintaining regular contact with individuals needing more than financial support. Collaborating internally and externally. Calling for collaborative care planning and other network meetings. As a new employee, you'll participate in our introduction program with mentorship. Your introduction will be individually adapted to your needs, ensuring a good start, comfort, and security. QUALIFICATIONS Position Requirements: • We seek candidates with a social work degree or equivalent education as assessed by the employer • Excellent verbal and written Swedish skills • Good knowledge of municipal responsibilities and legislation Meriting Factors: • Previous experience in documentation, investigative work, and economic assistance processing • Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing and low-affective approach • Previous experience in economic assistance/social welfare • Experience with investigation tool Instrument X • Experience working with VIVA and LifeCare systems Personal Qualities: • Ability to work independently and plan work based on needs • Easy collaboration skills and ability to manage stress • Capability to plan and be flexible in reprioritizing tasks OTHER Candidates must provide proof of citizenship in Sweden/EU/EEA or valid work/residence permit during the interview.
