About this role
Do you want meaningful work that makes a difference in people's lives? Welcome to a municipality that is far from average!
Botkyrka Municipality is the sixth largest municipality in Stockholm County and consists of the districts of Alby, Fittja, Hallunda, Norsborg, Tullinge, Tumba, Vårsta, and Grödinge. Botkyrka Municipality has approximately 95,000 residents and over 6,400 employees.
**The Position and Responsibilities**
We are looking for someone to work as a social worker in financial assistance and contribute to ensuring that people in Botkyrka receive the right support to achieve self-sufficiency.
In our organization, client contact is central and we operate with a strengths-based approach that focuses on the individual's resources.
Our current supplementary social worker is moving on to a leadership role, and we are therefore seeking a new colleague who wants to take on a temporary position until September in the meantime! As a supplementary social worker, you play an important role in our operations. You are an authority practitioner and make decisions based on applicable legislation and guidelines, with a focus on legal security and professionalism.
In this role, you act as a lubricant in the operation—you provide coverage during short-term absences, manage ongoing cases to avoid changes in caseworkers and interruptions, and serve as a bridge in cases awaiting a new social worker.
You relieve colleagues by making targeted interventions and temporary prioritizations in cases, and you can also handle visits, applications, home visits, group phone calls, and collaboration meetings. During periods of low absenteeism in the group, you act as a support for your colleagues and contribute to a stable and well-functioning work environment.
Through close collaboration with colleagues within the unit, particularly with team leaders, as well as with external partners, you strive to find sustainable solutions—both for clients and for the organization as a whole.
Your main tasks include:
- Investigating, assessing, and making decisions regarding financial support based on applicable legislation, guidelines, and local procedures.
- Relieving social workers during high workloads by managing incoming applications, investigating appeals, and assisting in ongoing cases.
- Managing and progressing cases during periods of absence or while awaiting a new social worker, for example during recruitment or extended leave.
- Temporarily covering in operations by receiving visits, participating in home visits, answering group phone calls, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Serving as a support for colleagues and contributing to a more even distribution of work within the team.
- Managing your own smaller caseload that involves particularly complex cases.
- Contributing to a holistic view in operations by addressing needs and processing applications in a way that creates flow and facilitates for both colleagues and clients.
This role has been in place for a short time and is still under development. With us, you will become part of an engaged workgroup where we support each other and develop our working methods together. We work closely with our partners and focus on creating long-term results for those we serve.
**We Offer You**
With us, you will become part of a workplace with 50 dedicated colleagues divided across three units. We work closely together and support each other in our daily tasks. The team includes senior social workers, social workers, and social assistants, and we have clear roles and regular supervision to ensure quality and legal security. We collaborate both within the unit and with other operations to provide the best possible support to our clients.
We offer flexible work arrangements and apply annual working hours to facilitate the balance between work and private life. You will work in an organization that invests in digital solutions to simplify administration and free up more time for client meetings. We prioritize professional development and offer ongoing training and supervision. Our work environment has been recognized with the award "Workplace of the Year 2025," reflecting our focus on community and development. We have an inclusive culture that strengthens cohesion through joint activities, such as social gatherings and health initiatives.
**You as a Candidate**
We are looking for someone who has a degree in social work and previous experience in administrative roles within social services, including case management and assessments according to the Social Services Act (SoL).
