About this role
Västerås City has removed the personal letter from the application process. We do this to achieve a better and fairer recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be required to answer a number of questions that will become an important part of our selection work.
Here, you will take responsibility for housing-related social issues and contribute to the safety of vulnerable individuals, while also developing alongside a strong and supportive team.
Your Responsibilities
The Housing Social Unit consists of 25 employees, divided into four teams, each led by a team leader. We are now looking for two new colleagues, one permanent position and one temporary position, to join our eviction prevention team and our investigation team, respectively.
As a social worker in the eviction prevention team, you will work on preventive measures against evictions, in close collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, such as landlords and the Enforcement Authority. In the investigation team, you will investigate and follow up on housing-related social issues with a focus on sustainable solutions for individuals. We operate based on the Social Services Act (SoL) and always start from the individual's needs when we investigate, assess, and decide on interventions. Our target group consists of adults facing housing-related challenges, such as individuals with psychosocial difficulties and/or harmful use and dependency.
With us, you will be part of an engaged and supportive team where diversity is seen as a strength. You will work independently, but you will always have colleagues and team leaders close at hand to discuss ideas. We offer regular team meetings, external supervision, and excellent opportunities for professional development.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is curious, responsible, and has a clear commitment to strengthening safety and well-being in the community. You have a genuine interest in social work and the courage to make a difference in people's lives. You are structured and confident in your work while valuing collaboration and the exchange of ideas with colleagues. In high-pressure situations, you remain calm and can make thoughtful decisions.
You have an academic degree in a relevant field, such as social work or behavioral science. You have a good understanding of the Social Services Act (SoL), and training in social law is considered an asset. You express yourself very well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
It is an advantage if you have experience in public authority operations and investigative work, as well as knowledge of mental health issues, harmful use, and dependency. Familiarity with administrative law and rental legislation, as well as a valid driver's license and driving experience, are also seen as a plus.
We Offer
With us, you will work in the Social Services House, right by the station area, where various competencies meet and collaboration is close. Here, you will find colleagues with extensive experience who will support you in your daily work, and as a new employee, you will receive a safe and well-thought-out introduction. With commitment and competence, we contribute our efforts to create stability and a good quality of life for people in Västerås.
Here, you will be part of something greater! With warmth and respect, we demonstrate action in both big and small matters. We live our values in our interactions with each other and those we serve. Every day, year-round, we ensure that Västerås functions well. Together with your approximately 11,500 colleagues throughout the city, you will have Sweden's most important job.
