About this role
Are you a trained social worker with experience in public authority operations? Do you thrive in a community that invests in continuous professional development in your role? Then you might be one of the candidates we are looking for!
At Lotsen for children and youth in Mariestad, there is an investigation group consisting of reception, investigators, and open care, as well as a placement group that handles cases according to SoL (Social Services Act) and LVU (Care of Young Persons Act). Attached to these groups are two senior social workers and two social administrators. Together, we drive work that makes a difference for the children, youth, and families we encounter. We actively strive for an equal, equitable, and inclusive working method, and since 2023, our operations have been HBTQI+ certified through Samkrafter.
We now need to hire several social workers - this involves both strengthening our reception and recruiting replacements for our investigation and placement groups.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Within these areas, we need to fill positions;
Reception:
In the reception, which we are now expanding, two social workers currently work with the following main tasks:
- Receiving applications and reports of concern that come in and making an initial assessment of these.
- Providing advice during incoming calls from private individuals and collaborative partners.
- Working with young offenders.
- Taking an active role in the SSPF network (collaboration for school, social services, police, and leisure).
Investigation Group:
For those interested in a position in the investigation group, which takes over after the reception has made a preliminary assessment, the work continues with:
- Investigating children's needs and parents' abilities.
- Following up on assistance decisions.
- Collaborating with schools, police, child and adolescent psychiatry (BUP), and other actors around the child.
- Tailoring solutions for families.
Placement Group:
In our placement group, which takes over after an investigation has been conducted, you will represent the child's interests and needs, ensure that the child has meaningful contact with their parents, and that the child is involved in their own care. You will work towards reunification, parental involvement in care, and ensuring they receive the right support. This includes:
- Monitoring the care of placed children and youth based on their individual needs and rights.
- Considering and reassessing care, creating visitation plans, and conducting visitation assessments.
- Close collaboration with foster care social workers and cooperation with schools, police, BUP, and other actors around the child.
For all positions, there are clear structures, frequent work meetings, guidance from senior social workers, and social administrative support. We have modern facilities and strive for a balanced and manageable case load among caseworkers. We also actively work towards close collaboration with nearby operations and invest heavily in professional development. In your application, you can specify which area or areas you wish to work in.
If you enjoy shorter contacts, meeting deadlines, and can quickly adapt in your work, the reception or investigation group may be the right workplace for you. On the other hand, if you prefer longer-term cases where you follow clients over time, the placement group is recommended. Regardless of group affiliation, we have fun at work! With good cohesion and professional development, we lay the foundation for good work - We make a difference for the children!
QUALIFICATIONS
For these positions, we are looking for candidates who are trained social workers and hold a valid driver's license (B). Previous work experience in social services and public authority handling of children and youth is required for the reception and is meritorious for the other positions.
We see that you are flexible and creative to adapt to meetings, situations, and unpredictable days. Since the work involves interaction with many actors, we also expect you to have good collaboration skills and communication abilities, both verbally and in writing. To ensure a lawful case handling, it is also important that you are responsible and have a good ability to structure your work.
What can we offer you?
At Lotsen, you will have your own office in modern facilities. We are a pleasant workplace where the team shares a common Friday breakfast and often organizes lunch training. We have set aside time for documentation on Wednesdays and hold weekly method sessions with themes based on what the team requests. These are aimed at development and competence as well as collaboration with internal and external actors.
You will receive guidance and support internally from colleagues and senior social workers. We also meet collectively once a month for external supervision at Residenset in Mariestad. As an employee within social services, you will receive a competitive salary, flexible working hours, wellness benefits, and the opportunity for vacation conversion. You will also be offered continuous professional development initiatives, including through the Professional Journey and other training planned by the unit. In the fall, the investigation group will have the opportunity to undergo training in the assessment method iRiSk (Risk and Safety Assessment for Children Exposed to Violence).
