About this role

Do you want meaningful tasks that make a difference in people's lives? Welcome to the municipality that is far from ordinary! Botkyrka Municipality is the sixth largest municipality in Stockholm County and consists of the districts of Alby, Fittja, Hallunda, Norsborg, Tullinge, Tumba, Vårsta, and Grödinge. Botkyrka Municipality has approximately 95,000 inhabitants and over 6,400 employees. The Social Services Department provides support to Botkyrka residents and is responsible for official duties, primarily according to the Social Services Act. The support is for both individuals and their next of kin. The Social Services Department has a special responsibility for children, youth, and adults in need of support according to social legislation. We are about 500 employees who, through strength-based approaches, provide support to Botkyrka residents in an equitable, fair, and secure manner. The Position and Duties We are seeking a temporary social secretary for the Adult Intake Unit with a focus on financial assistance. Here you will meet citizens aged 18 and above who are in a financially vulnerable situation and need support to move towards self-sufficiency. In this role, you will make early assessments, provide social guidance, and ensure that citizens receive the right support from the start. You will work in a generalist role, encountering a broad spectrum of issues and needs, often during shorter case periods before the case is closed or referred further. The temporary position extends until August 30, 2026. Your primary duties will be: - Investigating the right to financial assistance and making decisions according to the Social Services Act - Conducting municipal residency investigations - Handling urgent applications for financial assistance and placements - Providing individually tailored advice and support that motivates change - Collaborating with other social services units and external actors such as the Employment Agency, Social Insurance Agency, healthcare, and other authorities At the Adult Intake Unit, cases are handled during a limited period, with a focus on early and preventive interventions. We are an important first point of contact in an individual's support process and work closely with other societal actors to ensure the right support at the right time. The unit has a broad mandate. In addition to official duties, we actively work with early and preventive interventions. With the transition to a new Social Services Act, we are given even better opportunities to work proactively and preventively, in close collaboration with other societal actors. Through our information efforts in the local community, we contribute to making social services support visible and early identifying citizens in need of help. We Offer You At our Adult Intake Unit, you will be met by an engaged and supportive work group with high competence and a strong focus on collaboration. We are social secretaries, administrators, chief social secretaries, and two unit managers who together drive the work forward. The unit is divided into two groups, one focused on financial assistance and another focused on addiction, mental health, and criminality. We collaborate closely as many cases involve multiple areas, creating a learning environment where we share experiences and support each other in daily work. As a newcomer, you will have a secure start through a structured introduction and a mentor who will follow you during the initial period. We offer supervision and continuous skills development, including the initiative on generalizability that provides an opportunity to broaden your competence and work within both unit areas. You will be given influence in development work, have the opportunity to work partially remotely, and receive a work environment where commitment and respect are the foundation for both well-being and quality. Who We Are Looking For We are seeking someone with a social work degree or currently studying social work with at least 120 higher education credits.
