Social Advisor for Youth Center Prevention

Do you want to help shape a completely new area of operations? The Department of Individual and Family Care is in an exciting phase where the organization is changing and expanding to meet the needs of the residents of Borås. Therefore, we launched our new operational branch, Youth Center, in the fall of 2023. As an employee within any of the Youth Center's units, you will play a crucial role in shaping and developing the operations. Several already established units have come together to form the Youth Center, as we aim to provide even better and more cohesive support for those we serve. Common to these units is that they all work with young people aged 10-18 who require societal support, with a primary focus on issues related to substance abuse, criminality, and/or other norm-breaking behaviors. We want our employees to have the opportunity to specialize in this target group and therefore offer professional development in the area, including courses on Crime as a Lifestyle, Ester, and System Theory. The units within the Youth Center form a chain from preventive and outreach work to investigation, assessment, and treatment interventions. As an employee in any of the Youth Center's units, you can expect close daily collaboration with various professional roles with different assignments, where you, as a social advisor, will be an important part of the chain! The role of social advisor is part of the Youth Center's preventive unit and consists of two employees, one located at Norrby's meeting place, Norrbyhuset, and the other based at Hässleholmen's meeting place, Hässlehuset. We are now expanding our work and are seeking an additional confident, motivated, and driven social advisor who will base their work in Sjöbo. Within the Department of Individual and Family Care, a development project is underway, where we are focusing on professional development and implementing system-theoretical methods in our operations. This means we are developing working methods that strengthen individual participation, holistic perspectives, and collaboration. Before an employment offer is made, a criminal record extract must be presented. Social Advisor for Youth Center Prevention Job Responsibilities As a social advisor, you will engage in outreach and preventive social work at both group and individual levels. Through collaboration, relationship-building, motivational, and mapping work, you will identify goals for further change efforts. The target group consists of children and young people aged 6-18 and their guardians. As a social advisor at Sjöbohuset, you will be present in the local area to support and motivate families and young people seeking help at an early stage before problems escalate. Through collaboration with the Meeting Place, schools, community organizations, and social services, families in need of support and advice will be identified. In addition to providing individual advice and support conversations, the social advisor will also conduct group parent education programs such as "ABC" and "Parenting in Sweden." In conversations with young people, we work with methods such as Repulse and MI. The role of the social advisor includes guiding parents in their interactions with authorities and other agencies. Social advisors also provide consultation to other professional groups regarding families with children and young people at risk. Qualifications We want you, as an applicant, to be a social worker or have an education that the employer deems equivalent. You should be skilled in verbal and written communication. You should enjoy working in various environments and find new situations exciting. Experience in outreach work or working with young people and/or parental support is an advantage.
