Social Worker for Community Center in Biskopsgården, Temporary Position

ABOUT US Hisingen Meeting Place is a unit where we, together with residents and local actors, identify needs and offer local social interventions on an area-based approach. The unit will serve all those in need, with a special focus and adaptation for parents and children (0-12 years). We will be a bridge to society and build trust, networks, and social mobilization. The purpose is to equip individuals for increased societal participation, greater ability to influence their own lives, and contribute to reduced social and economic vulnerability. You will be part of a work team of 9 engaged individuals with a strong drive to make a difference. Currently, we offer various meeting places with free activities for parents and children living under economic and/or social vulnerability, as well as study support for middle school students. Our mission is dynamic, as we regularly adjust our interventions for the target group based on participation and needs. ABOUT THE POSITION Together with 3 colleagues, you will develop and be responsible for our offering at meeting places in Biskopsgården, primarily focused on families with children. Based on the needs we encounter, we build activities together with the target group. You will meet people where they are right now, which means the range of interventions is extensive. With the purpose of empowering individuals, we offer open meeting places, advice and support, themed meetings, family activities, and more. Together with your colleagues, you will also be involved in other activities related to the unit's mission. Part of the work involves collaborating with local actors and mentoring volunteers and part-time employees. WHO ARE YOU? We are looking for someone with a college degree in social work or equivalent education as assessed by the employer. Several years of experience working with children and families is highly meritorious, as well as experience in rights-based work or similar. You are an engaged and social person with extensive knowledge of societal functions and a strong drive to contribute to a more humane society for all. As a person, you are confident, relationship-building, unpretentious, organized, and responsible. You approach and solve challenges smoothly and flexibly and have good collaborative abilities. Experience in area-based work and working in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas is appreciated. You should have excellent Swedish language skills in speech and writing. Language competence in Arabic or Somali is highly meritorious. A driver's license is an advantage. As you will be part of a team whose mission is to build activities based on needs, you must be able to work independently and systematically and enjoy startup and development work. Since the work is based on participation, you also need to be comfortable meeting and working closely with the target group and thrive in a constantly moving and developing role and operation. PRACTICAL INFORMATION The position is a 100% temporary placement until August 2026. Irregular working hours occur, including evenings and weekends. Start date as soon as possible or by agreement.
