Salem Culture School
The Culture School is a voluntary educational form for children and young people aged 0-21. Approximately 600 students are enrolled in fee-based courses, and around 500 in free courses, as well as certain classes in primary schools. The Culture School's mission is to provide teaching and performances that give all children and young people in Salem Municipality the opportunity to experience and practice various cultural forms. Offered cultural forms include instrumental instruction, singing, music production, film, art, dance, and theater. The Culture School works to ensure good accessibility with a broad and inclusive course offering.
Salem Culture School's strengths include close collaboration with municipal and independent schools, associations, and other actors in culture and education. We are located in pleasant facilities in Salem Center but also provide instruction at several of the municipality's schools. In recent years, the school has undergone an expansive phase, having been granted state subsidies to expand operations to reach new target groups and work towards becoming more gender-equal and inclusive. The government initiative "Creative School" is also coordinated by the Culture School.
Percussion Instructor
We are now seeking a percussion instructor at 40% from January, ongoing.
As a percussion instructor, you will be responsible for leading the Culture School's percussion instruction and some of our ensembles.
In the role of a Culture School pedagogue, you will be responsible for planning, implementation, and evaluation of the activities you work with, and for following up on the budget allocated for materials, consumption, and inventory. As a teacher, you will ensure student influence and participation in instruction, and actively work to implement the school's core values by using methods that make teaching accessible, gender-equal, and inclusive. You will be part of the Culture School's faculty with opportunities for joint planning, knowledge exchange during pedagogical forums, and the chance to contribute to operational and personnel matters during staff meetings.
Qualifications
- We want you to have education and/or experience in percussion instruction.
- Experience working in pedagogical settings is meritorious.
- Education in diversity, integration, disability, and gender is meritorious.
We are seeking someone with strong commitment to culture and children's learning and development. You should have a working style characterized by structure, planning, engagement, and good collaboration skills with both individuals and groups. We prefer a creative person with strong initiative.
