About this role
Are you interested in working to help children and young people develop and achieve sustainable learning? Are you passionate about student health work? Then we look forward to meeting you!
As a school counselor, you will provide the social and psychosocial perspective of student health in promoting student learning and development.
You have knowledge and use, based on proven experience and evidence, a broad range of working methods to meet the school's needs for psychosocial interventions. You provide consultation to school staff, help establish action plans, and work with student groups for promotion, prevention, and in acute situations. You are part of the schools' crisis and disaster preparedness team.
In the school's student health team, you work under the principal's mandate, and your role as a school counselor includes conducting conversations such as support, motivational, and crisis talks, as well as investigative and advisory discussions with individual students and their families. You investigate/map and assess the social and psychosocial situation of individual students, among other things, as a basis for decisions about special support, establishing action plans, addressing absenteeism, and preparing for a student's admission to an adapted primary school.
Your role also includes supporting staff in reporting to social services and police, collaborating with healthcare, youth clinics, and habilitation services. You contribute to developing the school's structure and organization for value foundation and equal treatment.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a social work degree and experience working with children and young people. Experience as a school counselor and working in a cross-professional team is meritorious. You enjoy collaborating with others and are simultaneously self-directed, able to identify where your competence is needed. You are comfortable working at individual, group, and organizational levels and have a good ability to create relationships and collaborate with other professionals.
We look forward to meeting someone who is confident in their role and can contribute psychosocial expertise to student health work, with a strong ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively for the benefit of students and the organization. Much of the work involves collaboration with students, guardians, principals, school staff, and authorities, so we hope to meet someone motivated by and comfortable with cooperation.
