School Counselor for Backluraskolan and Maltesholmsskolan

Welcome to Us We are offering a position as a school counselor at our two schools, Backluraskolan and Maltesholmsskolan. Both schools, located in Hässelby, have students from preschool class to grade 6, and Maltesholmsskolan also has an adapted primary school. Backluraskolan, situated in Hässelby Villastad, has approximately 460 students with over 60 employees. Maltesholmsskolan, located in Hässelby strand, has around 430 students with over 85 employees. Your Role As a school counselor, you will be a crucial part of the school's student health team. Your work will primarily focus on preventive and health-promoting activities, contributing psychological and social expertise in close collaboration with student health professionals and other school staff. Work tasks are varied and dynamic, which may include: - Identifying and analyzing opportunities and promoting factors in the school's learning environment, and reducing obstacles to learning and personal development at organizational, group, and individual levels. - Conducting individual and group conversations with students, attending parent meetings and network meetings, mentoring and consulting school personnel. - Documenting for decisions regarding individual student work and the school's systematic quality work. - Participating in the development and implementation of action plans for crisis management, value-based work, conflict management, and plans against harassment and active measures to counteract discrimination. - Contributing knowledge about societal resources and support systems, and collaborating with social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, habilitation, association and field activities, and police. - Being responsible for the school's security team and following up on reported harassment cases. Your Competence and Experience We are seeking someone who has: - A social work degree or equivalent education. - Good knowledge about children and young people and their development. - A broad range of working methods grounded in theories of societal and social systems, human behaviors, communication, and interpersonal interactions. - Extensive knowledge of social work, psychosocial change work, sociology, psychology, social law, and a comprehensive and continuously updated understanding of society's welfare systems. The school counselor must independently take responsibility for their professional work and how psychosocial interventions will be concretized and designed. A work plan with prioritized operational areas based on school needs and systematic quality work will be developed in dialogue with school management. This provides significant autonomy but also requires good judgment and thorough knowledge of the fundamental mission according to school law, curricula, and other governing and guidance documents. School counseling work requires the ability to handle multiple perspectives, ensuring that school social work protects and highlights the significance of structural, organizational, and relational perspectives. The school counselor is also responsible for maintaining and deepening their professional competence and monitoring external developments. Great importance will be placed on personal qualities.
