School Librarian at Vallås and Snöstorp School, Temporary Position

What You Will Do Vallåsskolan and Snöstorpsskolan are jointly seeking a school librarian who, with commitment and joy, wants to be part of driving the schools' operations forward. As a school librarian, you are a crucial component in working to increase student goal achievement. In your role, your primary mission is to promote students' reading interest and contribute to improving literacy, together with students and teachers. You will also be responsible for the budget and purchasing literature and other media for the library. In collaboration with teachers and other educators, you will develop students' reading desire, imagination, and reading and writing skills. You are interested in the opportunities digital tools offer for promoting reading motivation and literacy development. We want to focus on reading development across all subjects throughout primary school. In this assignment, you will collaborate with school management, teachers, and other staff in primary school. You have a clear student focus and value good treatment and positive relationships. The assignment also includes developing students' ability to search for and evaluate information. You will work with source criticism and help students navigate the internet and social media. You will be a role model and drive the school's digitalization process, providing support to teachers and students in digital tools. You will be part of the network of school librarians in Halmstad municipality. As a school librarian, you will work at both Vallåsskolan (60%) and Snöstorpsskolan (40%). You will interact with students from preschool to ninth grade and collaborate with the schools' committed educators to create the best possible conditions for student learning. Snöstorpsskolan has a school library, and at Vallåsskolan, we collaborate with the public library located in the same building as the school. You will be part of the administration's school librarian network. The network meets regularly and is led by the administration's school library developer. The purpose is to create an arena for school library development through systematic quality work, further education, collegial learning, dialogue, and information and inspiration. As a school librarian, you will also have access to an administration-wide multilingual library and support from a multilingual librarian. Your Experience We are looking for someone with a degree in school librarianship and several years of experience working in school libraries. It is an advantage if you have experience working with children and youth from diverse cultures and language groups. If you do not have a librarian degree, it may also be possible to apply and potentially be hired as a library educator with the following requirements: Higher education/university degree in the field, such as literature studies, licensed teacher, journalist, etc. We look forward to receiving your application!
