About this role

We are now looking for you who want to join us in making a difference for those we serve! Växjö Municipality is Kronoberg's largest employer, working every day, year-round, for our residents, businesses, and visitors. Together, we create a sustainable tomorrow and an attractive municipality to live, work, and thrive in – today and in the future. This means a job where we challenge ourselves to think innovatively, learn, and develop together. Do you want to be part of a larger context where you can truly make a difference? Welcome to Växjö Municipality! **JOB DESCRIPTION** Welcome to Norregård School! We are a secondary school with approximately 550 students. Here, we prioritize our students' education, safety, and values. We believe that the environment, our competent staff, and our various creative initiatives are the keys to our students thriving and achieving good results year after year. At Norregård School, we currently engage in clear collegial development work across all subjects, where teachers collaborate to enhance teaching. We prioritize the interaction between students and teachers and believe that the personal connection a teacher has with a student is essential. To meet students' needs, we have a resource system where there are often two educators in the classroom. We are now seeking an engaged school librarian who wants to contribute to our students' learning, reading enthusiasm, and development. You will become an important part of the school's educational work, serving as an inspirer, guide, and partner in students' encounters with literature, language, and digital tools. As a school librarian with us, you will promote reading and support both students and teachers in their use of literature and media. You will work closely with school leadership, teachers, and student health services. Your responsibilities will include, among other things: - Managing staffing and development of the school library - Teaching the subject of Contemporary Issues at the school, where you will meet all our students in grade 7 in small groups for several weeks each term - Actively working on reading promotion initiatives in all grades - Inspiring a love for reading and strengthening students' language, reading, and writing development - Guiding students in information retrieval, source criticism, and internet ethics - Supporting students in need of compensatory aids, for example, through Legimus - Participating in media selection and purchases. You will be part of the Swedish subject team and collaborate closely with the school's educators. Since you will be the sole librarian, it is important that you are comfortable taking your own initiatives and driving the work forward. The position is 80% employment. **QUALIFICATIONS** We are looking for someone who is a trained librarian or has education in library and information science. You have a strong interest in young people's learning and reading development and want to help strengthen their language skills and love for reading. You see the school library as an educational resource and want to actively contribute to the school's work on language, reading, and writing development. We are seeking a person who is relationship-building, social, outgoing, has good collaboration skills, and enjoys working closely with students, educators, and colleagues. At the same time, you are independent, take your own initiatives, and possess a pedagogical ability that allows you to adapt your working methods to students' needs. You are flexible, creative, and willing to try new approaches to develop the operations. With your ability to engage and inspire both children, youth, and adults, you contribute to a positive learning environment. You also have good knowledge of information retrieval, source criticism, and digital tools. Other important abilities include enjoying challenges and being responsive to changes. We are looking for someone with a strong commitment and interest in working with educators to create the best conditions for our students so that they can develop well in a stimulating environment. Recruitment will take place continuously, so do not hesitate to submit your application. We warmly welcome you to apply! **ADDITIONAL INFORMATION** Employees of Växjö Municipality should reflect the diversity present in the municipality. We welcome applicants regardless of age, gender, or ethnicity. As a permanent employee, you will typically be assigned to a position within our organization. Ongoing interviews may occur, so please send your application as soon as possible. Applications are only accepted via the Public Jobs recruitment tool (www.offentligajobb.se).
