About the Organization:
Karlslundsskolan is a well-functioning preschool to 9th-grade school located in central Vallentuna with good transportation links. The school has approximately 550 students and 80 employees. The school manages all facilities in-house and has a restaurant kitchen. Karlslundsskolan has a vision to increase accessibility in learning and development for students, focusing on learning environments and modern planning based on students.
You will join a culture that encourages innovation and where we are happy to support you through development projects with colleagues. Karlslundsskolan is Erasmus+ accredited and conducts several exchanges with students and teachers each year. Vallentuna music classes are run by Karlslundsskolan and are an exciting culture that characterizes the operation.
We are seeking a teaching school librarian who is passionate about language and reading-promoting approaches. Through the school library, you will create engaged and curious readers, critical information seekers, and digitally competent media users.
Job Responsibilities:
You will work closely with teachers as a pedagogical resource with the student in focus, providing relevant materials. Together with educators, you will collaborate to strengthen students' reading ability, reading interest, and linguistic skills. You will also work to strengthen students' digital competence and play an important role in the school's democracy and value-based work.
You will create and maintain the school library's books, easy-to-read media, and digital resources. You will promote reading by organizing library lessons, book clubs, and other inspiring reading activities. Students will receive help from you in developing information search and source criticism skills.
Your approach will be proactive and outreach. You will be a support for the entire school with your knowledge in focus. We have a trust-based distributed leadership and governance at the school. It is a significant advantage if you have an aptitude for this, take great responsibility, and are driven to succeed in practice.
You will be our bridge to the public library in Vallentuna.
Qualifications:
• Trained school librarian or other relevant university education
• Experience in teaching in primary school and contributing to the school's pedagogical activities and student development
• Experience collaborating with teachers on instruction and adaptations for students with special needs
• Experience in creating school libraries is meritorious
