Film about us: https://youtu.be/VnvQMbiYE3U **Description** We are now seeking a school librarian to strengthen our reading promotion efforts for the municipality's children and youth. This position is newly established with the primary goal of further anchoring the school library as a pedagogical resource in teaching across all grade levels. The role will contribute to ensuring equal opportunities for all students and, with the expertise of the librarian profession and the resources of the library, achieve increased goal fulfillment. The position is located within the library services in Lysekil but has a clear mandate to ensure that school libraries are places that provide students with opportunities to enhance their love of reading and reading habits. Lysekil Library consists of the main library in Lysekil and two more accessible branches in Brastad and Grundsund. We work to create accessible and welcoming libraries that foster a love for reading and promote interactions between people. In the municipality of Lysekil, there are also seven primary schools and one secondary school. We are part of the Libraries in Fyrstad, which allows us to share resources and experiences beneficial to our library visitors. **Responsibilities** As a school librarian, you will contribute to making the school library a place where students want to be and actively work to build good relationships with them. The school librarian's mission also includes working strategically to create opportunities for new forms of collaboration between library services, teachers, and schools, serving as a reading promotion resource that benefits students' learning with a focus on their needs and interests. You will work on fostering reading enthusiasm, implementing reading promotion initiatives, and enhancing media and information literacy in close collaboration with teachers. This may occur through specific projects or prioritized initiatives at the municipality's various schools. The role does not include staffing or administration at the school libraries. **Qualifications** - We are looking for someone who always has the best interests of the students in mind and is driven to meet and support children and youth. - You need to be able to take responsibility for your own work, be self-sufficient, and initiate and create good relationships that promote collaboration. - You should be able to see connections, have an overview, and be prepared and flexible to adapt to new circumstances. - To thrive in this role, you will also need to be creative, think innovatively, while being structured and delivering on time. - You hold a degree in library and information science or another qualification deemed equivalent by the employer. Experience working with children and youth, as well as experience in conducting training, workshops, or leading groups, is an advantage.
