JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Forest Manager in the Nature and Leisure Department, part of the Operations and Management Division, you will manage and develop Växjö Municipality's forests. Växjö Municipality owns a total of 3,700 hectares of forest, of which 600 hectares are nature reserves. Växjö Municipality has decided to work with continuous cover forestry, and the municipality's forest holdings have been FSC and PEFC certified for many years.
As a Forest Manager, you will track forest economics and goals together with the unit manager and colleagues. You will update the forest management plan and develop digital solutions with a special focus on ensuring GIS data is integrated into our systems and developing it in collaboration with the GIS operations. You will identify and plan long-term strategies (including continuous cover forestry) and priorities for all forests in dialogue with relevant personnel. You will monitor forest interests and actively participate in planning and land exploitation. You will handle grants for planned forest activities (monitoring and application). Analyze and develop forest-related processes and methods focusing on biodiversity, efficiency, and economics. You will also be responsible for developing management plans with relevant personnel and following up on forestry measures. We also see you playing a key role in education and information sharing internally and externally about forest opportunities for ecosystem services and significance in climate adaptation.
A total of 6 people work on managing Växjö Municipality's forests (forest workers). You will become part of this team alongside the municipal ecologist, park manager, and forest manager (with a more operational role). Your base will be at the sports field in Teleborg, but you will also participate in meetings at the municipal house or in other parts of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
You have a suitable university/college degree, such as a forester, forest master, or other equivalent education. You have extensive knowledge of forest planning and management. You are an experienced IT user with good knowledge of relevant IT/IS systems such as GIS and view the development of digital work methods and tools positively. You have good knowledge of forestry law, natural value assessment, and recreational values. You have knowledge and experience in economic follow-up of forests and forestry efforts. Meriting if you have SYN course according to PEFC and FSC standards, road work, and marking responsibilities. You must be proficient in the language verbally and in writing, and a B driver's license is required.

To effectively accomplish our tasks, you must have high collaboration skills, both internally within the unit and externally.
