Residents of Jämtland County in need of specialist psychiatric care receive treatment in outpatient or inpatient care within the psychiatric department at Östersund Hospital. The employees in our units have a significant responsibility to develop and improve care in collaboration with the area’s management. In total, there are about 270 employees in this field.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The trainee program offers you a unique opportunity to be introduced to patient care primarily within psychiatric inpatient care. By following the path of patients and care processes across various units, you gain valuable practical experience and a wide network within the field of psychiatry.
You will participate in patient meetings concerning various psychiatric conditions and disorders in collaboration with several different professional groups and specialist teams, which provides a good understanding of psychiatric care. As a trainee employee, you will be prioritized in offers for internal training and follow a structured program with supervision and varied tasks.
This is what the trainee program entails:
You receive a permanent position in psychiatry.
You receive an individually tailored introduction to the role of a nurse in psychiatry.
You are assigned a personal mentor for the entire year.
Regular supervision meetings.
You will work independently with patients, supported by experienced nurses within the organization.
You will have access to lectures and e-learning on psychiatric diagnoses and treatment methods.
If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will participate in the Region's Clinical Base Year alongside your work throughout the year.
In the job as a nurse in psychiatry, I get to follow a patient from a holistic perspective rather than just as a short-term care intervention. I develop through independent work with significant personal responsibility and authority to coordinate the patient’s care.
