We are now expanding our nursing staff for the Forensic Psychiatric Care Departments at Helix and Huddinge Hospital
Forensic Psychiatry Care Stockholm provides forensic psychiatric care for patients from the entire Stockholm County and has approximately 550 employees distributed across two sections.
The clinic has 15 care departments and 2 outpatient clinics. The operation is spread across three facilities located at Helix (behind Huddinge Hospital), Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge, and Löwenströmska Hospital in Upplands Väsby.
Forensic Psychiatry Care Stockholm is now making a major effort to expand the number of nursing positions to ensure a good and sustainable work environment, maintain high quality in nursing, patient safety, and security work. We are expanding with 6 nursing positions distributed across 3 units, which will provide excellent conditions for a sustainable and developing work climate.
We are seeking nurses for our care units in security classes 2 and 3. The nursing position involves working on a schedule that includes day, evening, and weekend shifts. The units consist of two departments located at Helix and Huddinge Hospital, with 14 to 15 patients per department.
The departments primarily care for patients transferred to treatment under the Forensic Psychiatric Care Act (LRV). Many of the patients we care for have serious mental health issues. A large proportion of patients also have substance abuse problems.
The goal of forensic psychiatric care is to habilitate and rehabilitate patients to a life in society with increased psychosocial function and reduced risk of reoffending. We aim to contribute to a safe and sustainable reintegration to minimize the risk of recidivism.
Working in a care department provides an opportunity to work long-term with patients alongside a professional nursing/assistant nurse group and nursing colleagues. In addition to nurses and assistant nurses, a unit manager and deputy unit manager work closely with the operation. One or more senior physicians are connected to the unit, responsible for patient care. Social workers, psychologists, and occupational therapists are also an important resource in the work. All healthcare staff actively participate in the care provided.
Job Responsibilities
As a nurse, you have a clear leadership function in the department with primary responsibility for care planning together with nursing assistants.
Department staff have peaceful lunch breaks, breaks with colleagues to exchange thoughts and ideas, regular training sessions, etc. We have allocated time for meetings such as nursing meetings, APT, and department meetings.
More nurses in the departments provide more time to develop care quality together with others, both within the own unit and within the clinic. Some clinic assignments may be included in the nursing position.
Qualifications
We are seeking a registered nurse. Specialist education in psychiatry, previous experience working in psychiatry, addiction care, and/or correctional care is meritorious.
When meeting patients, you are always professional, attentive, and non-judgmental. You are helpful but can also be clear and set boundaries when required. You have excellent collaboration skills and enjoy working in a team while being able to work independently and lead others.
