Nurse for the Umeå Operations Area

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is expanding—we are building new facilities, renovating existing ones, and looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism—to break the cycle of crime. If we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transportation. The Umeå operational area includes the closed prison in Umeå, the open prison in Sörbyn, and the remand facility in Umeå. We are undergoing significant capacity increases, with a lot happening in the operational area in terms of both renovations and new construction. The largest professional group is prison officers, but we also employ healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production supervisors, and more. In the Sörbyn prison, the inmates are engaged in labor market training, learning centers, various treatment programs, or work within the kitchen, carpentry, horticulture, packaging/assembly, etc. The Sörbyn prison is an agricultural facility with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. In the Umeå prison, inmates are involved in woodwork/industry, kitchen duties, learning centers, and treatment programs. The Umeå prison and remand facility are approximately a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, while Sörbyn is most easily reached by car. Staff parking is available at all locations. We are now seeking registered nurses for the Umeå and Sörbyn prisons! JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The Swedish Prison and Probation Service provides some open health care services, meaning that all prisons and remand facilities have healthcare clinics where inmates can seek medical attention. In addition to nurses, the clinics also have general practitioners and psychiatrists. As a nurse, you will have your own clinic to assess minor ailments, but you will also determine which patients need to see a doctor. This means you will work with both somatic and psychiatric health care for the inmates, assist during medical appointments, and primarily administer medication through dosage dispensing. Documentation is carried out in the PMO patient data journal. As a nurse within the Umeå operational area, you are expected to work throughout the area, with placement at one specific location. We are seeking candidates who have: • Registered nurse license • Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish • A valid driver's license (B) Meritorious: • Relevant specialization or further education, such as in psychiatry, addiction, emergency care, outpatient care, or with a focus on district nursing • Relevant work experience in the field • Proficiency in languages other than Swedish and English.
