About this role

The Stroke Unit/Neurorehab is part of Neurocentrum at Sunderby Hospital. The department has 14 patient beds (Neurorehab 5, Stroke Unit 8, and 1 bed belonging to the alarm chain “Save the Brain”). Adjacent to the department is the Stroke Rehab Team (SHR), the Stroke Clinic, and the Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic. We are looking for a licensed nurse. It is advantageous if you have knowledge of the Cosmic journal system and prior experience with stroke and neuro rehab patients as well as thrombolysis treatment. We place great importance on your personal competencies; as a person, you possess good collaboration skills and enjoy working together with others in a multi-professional team. You see the value in contributing your knowledge while also being receptive to and utilizing others' perspectives. You are proactive and take responsibility for driving the work forward, both in daily patient care and in the department's improvement initiatives. As a nurse in the Stroke Unit/Neurorehab, you will be responsible for the nursing process, which includes ongoing nursing planning, medical supervision, and individual rehabilitation around the clock. This includes leading, distributing, prioritizing, and evaluating the needs-based and rehabilitation-focused nursing work on a daily basis. The department’s goal is to manage the entire care chain, from the acute onset of a stroke until the patient is discharged with support from our SHR team. In the Stroke Unit, you will work with the team based on clear routines founded on the National Guidelines for Stroke from the National Board of Health and Welfare. This includes making independent assessments of the patient’s neurological condition and quickly responding in the acute phase to prevent secondary brain injuries. Fixed procedures and clear directives regarding the intervals within which the patient’s vital parameters should be situated create security and efficiency. In the department, we work in multi-professional teams that include nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, speech therapists, doctors, nursing assistants, and rehabilitation instructors. Additionally, we have a development leader in the department who ensures you can focus on patient care. Good teamwork, effective communication, and well-established structures for the rehabilitation process allow patients to make significant progress in a relatively short time, making it an exciting journey to be a part of.
