About this role

About the Role

Do you want to work in an engaged team where your skills truly make a difference? At the Heart Department, we offer high-quality specialist care while caring for each other, fostering joy at work, and maintaining a strong team spirit. With us, you will grow in your role, develop over time, and contribute to improving care for our heart patients.

Job Responsibilities

As a nurse in the Heart Department, you play a central role in patient work. You are responsible for clinical assessments, medication management, and monitoring, including ECGs, ambulance ECGs, and CPAP treatment.

In your daily work, you collaborate closely with doctors, nurse aides, and sometimes physiotherapists. You lead the work together with one to two nurse aides and are a vital part of our interprofessional approach, which creates security both for you and our patients.

We tailor the introduction to your previous experiences and offer mentorship to ensure you feel secure in your role. Through our individual competency model, we capture your strengths and development goals, ensuring you receive the right support along the way.

We also provide opportunities for further education—both internal and external. A natural next step would be to advance to an HIA nurse (cardiac intensive care), where we introduce you based on your qualifications.

About the Workplace

The Heart Section consists of five units: cardiac intensive care (HIA), the Heart Department, heart day care, PCI lab, and heart outpatient clinic. We also work with several specialized clinics, including those focused on heart failure, arrhythmias, pacemakers, and anticoagulation.

We have a strong focus on quality and development, and we take pride in being ranked among the best in the country in myocardial infarction care. Our culture is built on respect, responsibility, and collaboration—supporting each other, laughing together, and taking shared responsibility for our patients.

For us, it is important that you feel good and thrive at work; therefore, we offer you:

  • A tailored introduction program to help you feel secure and confident in your professional role
  • Opportunities for professional development through internal training
  • A workplace for different stages of life, with flexible working hours within certain frameworks
  • Free access to our fully-equipped gym
  • Wellness reimbursement of 3000 SEK/year

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. Previous experience in the profession is considered an advantage, but most importantly, you are curious, engaged, and want to contribute to our team.

An interest in cardiac care is valuable. Experience in cardiology is an asset, but not a requirement. With us, you will have the opportunity to grow in your role—and if you wish to specialize as a cardiac intensive care nurse in the future, we will support you all the way.

You need to have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, and be comfortable documenting in the Cosmic journal system.

We place great importance on personal qualities. You need to be confident, have a knack for collaboration, and be able to maintain calm even in challenging situations. The role also requires you to work in a structured manner, take responsibility, and lead others in daily tasks.

Employment Terms

The position is a permanent, full-time employment located in Västerås.

Start date by agreement.

We apply the Region Västmanland working time model, which entails reduced weekly working hours—particularly beneficial for you working on rotation. The model also allows for weekend shifts, where you can work Friday to Sunday and still receive full pay.

If you rotate towards night shifts, you will have additional working time reduction, and the more nights you work, the greater your reduction will be. If you would like to know more, we are happy to explain how it works in practice.

Application

Welcome with your application no later than November 16, 2025.

When you apply, please only attach your CV and any certificates/transcripts. You will also need to answer a number of questions as part of our selection assessment. We do not utilize cover letters in our recruitment process.
