About this role
Are you a nurse with an interest in pediatric care? Our team offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
We value the individual experiences and knowledge of all our employees, and now we are curious about what you can contribute! Welcome to the Children's Emergency Care Department in Huddinge!
You will be offered:
- Individual onboarding tailored to your needs and the goals of the organization
- An attractive working time model that includes reduced working hours per week
- Close and rewarding collaboration with other professional categories
- The opportunity to rotate between the Children's Emergency Care Department and the emergency room, allowing you to broaden your skills and knowledge in both areas
- As a newcomer in your professional role here at Astrid Lindgren Children's Hospital, you will participate in a clinical foundation year, which means you can dedicate 10% of your working hours to attending lectures and receiving guidance to develop in your profession.
Of course, you will also benefit from the general perks offered by Karolinska University Hospital.
About the position:
In the Children's Emergency Care Department, we care for children and adolescents aged 0-18 with primarily medical conditions. We work in teams consisting of a nurse, a nursing assistant, and a doctor, with each team responsible for five child patients per shift. We also have two monitoring spots that can be opened as needed, referred to as BÖVE (Children's Monitoring Unit). BÖVE cares for children who require a higher level of care, and we can provide treatments such as CPAP for children under one year. An experienced nurse works at BÖVE in a team with a nursing assistant.
We have a mix of employees—those who have worked for a long time, those who have worked for a couple of years, and those who are newly qualified. This creates a good group dynamic where everyone can contribute their diverse experiences. We find that newcomers bring evidence-based thinking and a habit of seeking new knowledge, which is highly valued. Those with more experience contribute their stability and reassurance. We also have a training officer nurse who focuses on education and continued training. We plan schedules and shifts based on employees' skills, ensuring that there is always an experienced colleague available for questions.
Both positions are permanent. One involves day/evening or mixed shifts depending on experience and preferences. The other position is exclusively night shifts. There is also the possibility of a rotation position towards the emergency department if interested.
We are looking for someone who:
- Enjoys working in a team and likes to learn new things together with colleagues from different professions while sharing their knowledge and experiences
- Is curious, playful, and interested in pediatric care
- Sees the bigger picture and considers the overall best interests of the organization in actions and decisions
- Follows structure and planning but is also ready to reassess based on the circumstances at any given moment.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
- Swedish nurse registration
Meritorious:
- Specialist nurse with a focus on children and adolescents
- Experience working in pediatric emergency care.
About the recruitment process:
Selection and interviews may occur continuously during the application period. Along with your application, you need to attach a CV. Instead of a cover letter, we ask you to answer selection questions and briefly explain why you are suited for the role.
