The Children and Youth Departments 43 and 44 care for children and adolescents from newborns up to 20 years of age. We receive patients from all specialties at Kristianstad Central Hospital. Our unit consists of around 50 employees, and we work in teams to ensure high patient safety and a good working environment. We strive to have specialized staff trained in the needs of both healthy and ill children. Within the Children and Youth care area, we offer day care, scheduled outpatient services, a neonatal unit, and an emergency department.
As we have recently opened two intermediate care beds in the department, we are now looking to hire more nurses. These positions involve caring for patients who require a higher level of care, continuous monitoring, and advanced medical treatments. In May, we began training initiatives for our staff related to the new intermediate care beds, which will recur annually.

Here in the children's department, we are currently recruiting for the future. Working with us means engaging in an exciting and developing role within acute care, where interaction with the child and family is at the forefront.
In the role of a nurse in our department, you will have many of the typical responsibilities found in an acute care department. Additionally, you will work closely with children and relatives in a so-called person-centered care approach.
It is important to us that you receive a secure start to your employment here, and we have a well-structured orientation process. When you begin with us, you will have five weeks of guidance alongside two different mentors. We also have a team leader available for mentorship as you start working independently.
In our department, we utilize an educational concept called KÄK (Knowledge is Fun). We believe that learning is more effective and retention is improved when theoretical education is delivered in conjunction with practical work around specific diagnoses or methods. This concept is part of our ongoing work on competence development and also helps us leverage the existing expertise within the department.
You, as the applicant, should be a licensed nurse with the qualifications to work within Swedish healthcare. Proficiency in Swedish at least at the C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference is required. A specialization in pediatric and adolescent nursing is highly advantageous for this position. Additionally, experience in acute care, inpatient care, and/or pediatric services is beneficial.
