The pediatric and youth departments 43 and 44 care for children and adolescents from newborns up to 20 years of age. We receive patients from all specializations at Kristianstad Central Hospital. Within the unit, we are about 50 employees, and we work in teams to ensure high patient safety and a good working environment. We strive to have specialized staff educated in the needs of healthy and sick children. The pediatric and youth care area includes day care, scheduled outpatient services, a neonatal unit, and an emergency department.
Since we recently established two intermediate care beds in the department, we now need more nurses. These are places where we care for patients requiring a higher level of care, continuous monitoring, and advanced medical treatments. In May, we started training initiatives for our staff related to the new intermediate care units, which will recur annually.

Here at the children's department, we are recruiting for the future. Working with us means engaging in exciting and developmental work within emergency care, where the interaction with the child and the family is the focus.
As a nurse in our department, you will have many of the usual responsibilities found in an acute care department. Additionally, you will work closely with children and relatives in a so-called person-centered care approach.
It is important to us that you receive a secure start to your employment here, and we have a well-established introduction program. When you start with us, you will have a mentor by your side for your first five weeks with two different supervisors. We also have a team leader available for guidance when you begin working independently.
In our department, we utilize a training concept called KÄK (Knowledge is Fun). We believe that learning is more effective and that knowledge is retained better when theoretical training is provided in conjunction with practical work, such as related to a diagnosis or method. The concept is part of our ongoing work around competency development and helps us utilize the existing skills in the department.
