About this role
Make a difference. Every day.
The surgical department is one of the largest operations at the Central Hospital in Kristianstad and encompasses outpatient services for vascular, lower and upper gastrointestinal, as well as breast/plastic patients. We also have an oncology treatment unit, an Acute Surgery Ward, a general Surgical Ward, Urology and Vascular Ward, Gynecology Surgery, Ear-Nose-Throat, and an Acute Orthopedics Ward.
We operate an acute surgical ward where patients with trauma or urgent surgical conditions receive care. Here, we have the capacity for continuous monitoring to better manage our acutely ill patients. We provide both preoperative and postoperative care. The pace is high with varying tasks, and no two days are the same. Our knowledgeable and dedicated staff focus on the patient. The team around the patient includes doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, social workers, dietitians, medical secretaries, and service hosts. During the day, we have coordinators who manage all incoming calls and arrange transport for discharges and examinations. Our service hosts are responsible for meal management, cleaning, and other ancillary tasks, freeing up more time for patient care. A SVU coordinator is also available during the day to ensure safe and patient-secure discharges to the municipality. We always strive for a good working environment and teamwork based on the right application of skills. Cooperation with other units happens naturally, always centered around the patient's needs.

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a registered nurse who wants to work in an environment with interesting and varied tasks and great opportunities for development while being part of a safe and supportive team.
In the department, you will primarily work with acute nursing, but also with preoperative preparations and postoperative care. We have well-established routines and always strive to provide patients with the best possible care.
- The best thing about our department is the variety offered, as well as the acute situations. The unit prepares you well to handle these situations, and you can always receive support from a colleague. Something I also appreciate is our structure, which clarifies what is expected of you, says nurse Arta.
In addition to patient care, all employees are involved in the work of developing and improving both care and the work environment in our units. Our goal is to deliver good and safe care and always start from the patient’s needs. Through close teamwork and an integrated working method, we complement each other and become stronger as a team.
If you are new to your role as a nurse, we offer participation in a clinical foundation year. We have a well-designed, individually tailored introduction program, and within the department, there is an educational nurse available during the day for support, guidance, and training. We also offer group guidance for new nurses. There is also the possibility of job shadowing in surgery, outpatient services, and within other departments we closely collaborate with. We regularly organize scenario training with different cases as well as internal training on relevant themes to enhance both individual and collective competence in the department. With us, you will find both challenge and security in an environment where development, teamwork, and compassion always go hand in hand.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse eligible to practice within Swedish healthcare. Your language skills in Swedish correspond to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale. Relevant specialist education and/or prior experience working in a surgical department is highly meritorious, but we also welcome recent graduates who wish to develop with us. If you have supervisory training and/or experience in mentorship, that is also an advantage for this position.
To succeed in this role, you need the ability to plan and organize your work and to prioritize in acute situations. You have a genuine interest in people and are thorough, secure, and stable, caring for patients according to their individual needs. It is important that you have a professional demeanor and a good approach towards both patients and their relatives. We want you to, just like us, value a job characterized by personal responsibility, participation, and good collaboration between colleagues and the immediate manager. Significant emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
In this recruitment, we apply ongoing selection, so we warmly welcome your application today. We look forward to getting to know you!
