About this role
Make a Difference. Every Day.
The Neurology Department in Ystad is facing an exciting new start. In the fall of 2025, we have taken a significant step to build a credible, sustainable, and developing environment for you as a nurse. Together, we have laid a long-term plan to strengthen neurological care at Ystad Hospital, and in March 2026, we will open the doors to our reorganized department with a new approach, new colleagues, and a strong team. We want you to join us on this journey forward!
Ystad Hospital is an emergency hospital with 24/7 operations and a wide range of specialized elective care. We offer healthcare characterized by quality, accessibility, holistic approach, and care. As a medium-sized hospital, Ystad stands out for its short decision-making paths and proximity to other operational areas.
We are a smaller department with the strength of close collaboration. Here, you never work alone – but in well-functioning teams together with nursing assistants, doctors, and rehabilitation staff. The goal is to work in two teams, with five to six patients each, to create good continuity and security for both patients and staff.
The Neurology Department provides highly specialized care throughout the neurological care pathway. We care for patients with stroke, epilepsy and seizures, multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson's disease, neuromuscular diseases such as Guillain-Barré syndrome, as well as patients with brain tumors, meningitis, and other infections or inflammations of the nervous system.
DUTIES
In your role as a nurse, you have a key position in the interprofessional work around the patient. You lead the team and ensure that we provide person-centered and value-driven high-quality care. To achieve this, you will receive a well-developed and extended introduction when you join us. You will be assigned a mentor at the hospital who will follow you during your first year and whom you can use as a sounding board if needed.
You are part of our education wheel and will be given opportunities for training and skills development during work hours. To provide extra support in daily work, a duty-responsible nurse is on-site Monday to Friday. This experienced resource is responsible for admissions from the emergency department and supports the teams in daily work. We want to be a secure, pleasant, and developing workplace where we feel pride and community. We are now seeking you who want to help build the neurology department of the future together with us.
QUALIFICATIONS
We welcome those who are registered nurses authorized to practice within Swedish healthcare. You have Swedish language skills at least equivalent to level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale.
As an employee, you are positive, interested in learning, unpretentious, and with a desire to make a difference for patients with various types of neurological diseases. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.
Feel free to stop by for a cup of coffee, and we'll tell you more about us and our operations.
