About this role
Make a difference. Every day.
Are you a dedicated and empathetic nurse looking to be part of a wonderful team where we together make a difference for our patients? Then you are exactly who we are looking for in Medicine Ward 8. We offer a varied and developmental role with the opportunity to mentor students and grow in your profession!
This position is for you who want to be part of a stimulating and progressive workplace characterized by joy, pride, and loyalty. Medicine Ward 8 is the internal medicine inpatient ward at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) in Lund, where our educational unit, the Clinical Education Unit (KUA), is included.
In the ward, we mainly care for elderly patients with multiple medical issues referred from the emergency department, who are being evaluated and treated for conditions such as heart failure, respiratory failure, and various infections. Here, different professions complement each other with their expertise and high commitment, creating a strong team spirit and quality in patient care.
KUA is an important part of the ward and constitutes one of our teams. KUA is led by a clinical teacher, and here students learn through interprofessional education. Both novice and experienced nurses have the opportunity to develop mentoring and leadership skills alongside their colleagues.
- I enjoy meeting people and here we see the whole person. We encounter a broad patient clientele with various diagnoses, and I can still develop through internal training and new situations that arise. In KUA, where we work interprofessionally, the overall picture of the patient becomes clear as we, from our expertise, see different aspects of the patient situation. We mentors take a step back, and the students are in the foreground. The positive atmosphere, strong cohesion, joy, and laughter make me look forward to my next shift. Here, there is an open environment, and we see each other, says Katarina, a nurse with many years in the profession.
JOB DESCRIPTION
With us, we have a competent group of nurses with extensive experience in the nursing profession. We are now seeking more colleagues and welcome two nurses to our team.
In your role as a nurse, you will be responsible for basic and specific nursing care, risk assessment, and preventive measures. You will work closely with patients in a team primarily consisting of nursing assistants, doctors, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists, following the approach of wise clinical choices. One of the tasks for the nurses in Medicine Ward 8 is to mentor students from the nursing program who are undertaking their foundational placements and their KUA period here.
There are several paths for professional development with us. As a newly graduated nurse, you will participate in Sus's clinical foundation program with regular training sessions over a period of two years. We offer clinical competence development in the department, which takes place in weekly forums, in the form of lectures and practical training based on the employees' wishes, as well as by working closely with our clinical specialist in your daily work. Lectures are held by our responsible doctors and clinical specialists, blending theory with practical training in, for example, ultrasound techniques for IV placement, pleural drainage, or HFNC. You will also have the opportunity to receive training in various forms of mentoring, such as peer learning and reflective supervision.
We create wish schedules, allowing you to influence the timetable for the best balance between work and leisure. We plan your introduction together to create a safe and educational start in your role with us.
