As some of our nurses are going on parental leave or moving on to new assignments within Region Östergötland (RÖ), we are now seeking dedicated nurses to join our team at the surgical outpatient clinic.

The Surgical Clinic at US is a clinic where we actively and successfully work on, for example, opening care beds in our two departments, we have success in recruiting nurses, and we have a strong focus on research and a hopeful outlook for the future. The clinic is part of the Center for Surgery, Orthopedics, and Cancer Care (CKOC) and, in addition to the care departments, also includes a surgical outpatient clinic and a breast section.
The surgical outpatient clinic includes the following sections: Colorectal, Upper Abdominal, Endocrine, and Acute Section. Common diagnoses and conditions include cancer in the intestines, liver, esophagus, pancreas, and endocrine organs. We have stoma therapists on staff, and we also perform IBD surgery.

Job Description
In your role, you will be in contact with patients in need of surgical care. The outpatient clinic is divided into different sections, and there is close collaboration between the clinic's staff and the surgeons in each section. We currently need to strengthen our nursing resources in the colorectal and endocrine sections. The assignments may vary depending on the section. You may take on the role of contact nurse, ensuring the patient's journey through the care process, from referral, diagnosis, and follow-up before and after surgery. The work includes telephone counseling, various types of patient-facing outpatient work, and you will have significant responsibility for monitoring the patient throughout the process. For some positions, a portion of the role may involve surgical planning.
We see ourselves as a cohesive unit with various specialties, working together and supporting each other in daily tasks.
Work Group
At the surgical outpatient clinic, we are a work group that staffs several sections and the physician's office. We share facilities, lunchrooms, staff meetings, and have the same unit manager. Our group consists of about 25 employees, including nurses, nursing assistants, stoma therapists, and administrative staff. The clinic is also staffed by the clinic's surgeons.
About You
We are looking for a licensed nurse/specialist nurse with a genuine interest in surgery and the care of patients with cancer and other surgically treated conditions. We prefer candidates with several years of experience in the profession and those who have worked in inpatient care for a few years. We expect you to complete the contact nurse training within the first few years if you do not already have it. If you wish to further your studies to become a specialist nurse, we will work to provide you with opportunities based on your qualifications and previous experience. We want you to have at least a few years of experience before pursuing this path.
If you do not have inpatient care experience or equivalent, a placement/observation in one of our departments will be included in your introduction.
As we work in a process-oriented manner, it is essential that you are open to development work and can see opportunities in changing work methods. You should be comfortable using technology and digital tools.
We are looking for someone who is calm, secure, and possesses personal maturity. You have good collaboration skills and can work independently on your tasks within the team. You have a strong ability to structure your day and to lead yourself and others in your work.
You need to be able to organize your work and plan independently, taking responsibility for your planning and being able to adapt quickly to changes in the day's schedule. You understand your role in the team, communicate clearly, and act in the best interest of the entire organization in your actions and decisions.
