About this role
Hospitals in the West is an administration within the Västra Götaland Region and consists of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Local Hospital, Högsbo Local Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. Approximately 3,000 employees work with us every day to provide high-quality, safe specialist healthcare.
**Description**
Kungälv's ambulance service consists of four ambulance stations: Ale, Kungälv, Stenungsund, and Tjörn, as well as a unit for non-emergency patient transport. The ambulance service employs 53 permanent staff members.
Alingsås's ambulance service consists of two ambulance stations: Alingsås and Lerum. Approximately 45 permanent staff members work within the ambulance service.
**Responsibilities**
As a nurse in the ambulance service, you will play an active role in planning, executing, and being responsible for the tasks within ambulance care, based on the Health and Medical Services Act, the Patient Safety Act, and directives from the ambulance chief physician. The nurse in the ambulance should contribute to a positive encounter, good patient care, and a healthy work environment, guided by ethical principles.
An introductory training program starts on May 1, 2026.
**Qualifications**
We are looking for a licensed nurse; pre-hospital further education is highly advantageous. A valid driver's license with at least a B category is required, and it is very beneficial if you have a C/C1 category license, as we will only have ambulances requiring a heavier license in the future.
Emergency driver training is highly advantageous, as well as good local knowledge of the geographical areas in the ambulance districts. You should have good physical ability, as we conduct physical tests. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability, where flexibility and the ability to work independently are important aspects.
The recruitment process includes checks with IVO, the National Board of Health and Welfare, the Swedish Transport Agency, and extracts from the suspicion and criminal records register.
Test days for Kungälv are January 21, 2026, and February 18, 2026.
Test days for Alingsås are February 5, 2026, and February 20, 2026.
**Employment Type**
This is a fixed-term position until August 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension.
