In September, we moved into the newly built psychiatric house on the hospital grounds in Västervik, where we have now gathered all adult psychiatry and forensic psychiatry in the same building. Welcome to apply today!
Here you will meet patients with varying needs, ranging from short-term acute interventions to more long-term medical and treatment-related efforts. Your work tasks include medication management, psychiatric nursing and assessment, supportive conversations, telephone counseling, and documentation.
Our operation is characterized by strong patient focus, high quality and safety, and close collaboration between different professional groups. We have a close and good dialogue between outpatient and inpatient care with short decision-making paths.

About You
You are a licensed nurse and enjoy working in a solution-focused manner.
Very good collaboration skills and ability to create trusting relationships are important in the role. Since you will be working with patients in vulnerable situations, you must have a respectful and professional approach and be able to provide patients with a low-affect response.
As a nurse, you have a leadership role in the department, which means you need to communicate easily, be clear, and take initiative at work. To thrive with us, you need to enjoy varied work, be flexible in your approach, and have the ability to adapt to changing needs and circumstances.
With commitment and a positive attitude, you will contribute together with your colleagues to a good work climate where we all collaborate and help each other.
Previous work experience in psychiatry, treatment homes, correctional services, or similar activities is meritorious.
Your Future Workplace
Department 21 is an acute and treatment ward. Primarily, patients are cared for under the Compulsory Psychiatric Care Act (LPT), but also patients with substance abuse issues who need care and detoxification are treated here. Patients are also cared for on a voluntary basis. You will meet patients with varying diagnoses, conditions, and needs, which makes the work varied and developing.
We are part of the Psychiatric Administration in Region Kalmar County. The administration has a total of 600 employees working with specialist psychiatric care for adults, children and adolescents, forensic psychiatric care, and rehabilitation care.
