About this role

Together, we are developing Sahlgrenska University Hospital for a sustainable future. We are transforming healthcare with the goal of becoming Europe’s leading university hospital by 2032. Together with our patients, we work towards quality, accessibility, patient safety, research, education, and innovation – within an integrated healthcare system in the Västra Götaland region. Our vision and goals aim for care of the highest quality, with the patient always at the center. We provide healthcare locally and regionally, as well as highly specialized care to patients across the country and abroad. Our employees are our strength, contributing to knowledge exchange both nationally and internationally. With digital tools and new working methods, we can simplify daily operations at the hospital and offer modern, accessible, and efficient care of the highest quality. About Us Ward 366 is a specialist psychiatric inpatient unit tasked with caring for individuals experiencing episodes of bipolar disorder. We also care for patients with other affective disorders, such as depression and anxiety disorders. The ward has 15 beds. Care is planned and organized based on a team structure where the individual care needs of the patient are the focus. In addition to acute and relapse-preventive medical treatment, care and nursing interventions are tailored to the type of issues and the stage of the recovery process the patient is in. The ward collaborates closely with the bipolar outpatient clinic, which is the largest specialist clinic for bipolar disorder in the country. What Do We Offer? With us, there are excellent opportunities for your professional development and for participating in the advancement of the ward's operations. Many employees within the bipolar care chain are engaged in both teaching and research, and the staff group has the opportunity to partake in this through lectures, seminars, and workshops. We value safety for both patients and staff and tailor the introduction process to your needs. As a new nurse, you will have experienced colleagues by your side – during the introduction and as long as you need support. We know that good collaboration is key to both quality care and a well-functioning staff group. Therefore, we actively work to maintain a supportive learning culture where we take care of and learn from each other every day. Working hours are based on a five-week schedule. As a nurse, you will work two weekends out of five. About the Job As a patient responsible nurse, you will work in a team alongside nursing assistants, doctors, nurses, and social workers to identify and meet the patient's needs for care, nursing, and support. In your daily work, you, along with the patient’s contact persons (nursing assistants), will be closest to the patient. You will lead and distribute nursing tasks, identify care needs, plan, implement, and follow up on nursing actions, as well as be responsible for nursing documentation. Together with the rest of the care team, you will contribute to ensuring safe and quality care during both the acute phase and the recovery and discharge phases. About You We are looking for a licensed nurse, preferably with work experience in psychiatry or other people-oriented professions. A specialist nursing education in psychiatry is an advantage but not a requirement. You have a genuine interest in helping and supporting people in vulnerable situations and want to contribute to good relationships with patients, relatives, colleagues, and care partners. As a person, you are calm, patient, and confident in yourself. You value teamwork and a person-centered approach. Great importance is placed on personal suitability. We warmly welcome your application! Meet Some of Our Employees - Sahlgrenska University Hospital As a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our introductory program. The Clinical Foundation Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training of your profession at the Simulation Center. Additionally, it includes service in at least two different departments to broaden your competence. In the event of recruiting nurses/doctors with foreign qualifications, the relevant position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licensure/specialist certification.
