About this role

Together, we are developing Sahlgrenska University Hospital for a sustainable future. We are transforming healthcare with the goal of becoming Europe’s leading university hospital by 2032. Together with our patients, we strive for quality, accessibility, patient safety, research, education, and innovation – within an integrated healthcare system in the Västra Götaland region. Our vision and goals aim for care of the highest quality, where the patient is always the focus. We provide healthcare locally and regionally, as well as highly specialized care to patients across the country and abroad. Our employees are our strength, contributing to knowledge exchanges both nationally and internationally. With digital tools and new working methods, we can simplify daily operations at the hospital and offer modern, accessible, and efficient care of the highest quality. Do you enjoy emergency care and are also interested in surgery and nursing? Then you should apply to us at Ward 18! About Us We are a surgical emergency care unit focused on ear, nose, and throat (ENT) healthcare. In our operations, we provide highly specialized care for patients from across the region with diseases, injuries, or fractures related to the ears, nose, sinuses, oral cavity, throat, and esophagus. What characterizes our care is the wide variety of patient groups. You will meet patients undergoing planned or emergency surgery, with an average length of stay of two to three days. We have a high turnover of patients and actively collaborate with other services involved in our patients’ care to optimize the treatment we provide. What Can We Offer You? You will be welcomed into a unit with strong cohesion and a lot of joy at work. You will gain broad knowledge in ENT healthcare and surgery and be a significant contributor to the teamwork we have around each patient. Currently, we have 10-15 care beds depending on the day of the week. With us, you will have a great opportunity to develop as a nurse and participate in the improvement efforts and working methods we actively engage in. You will plan, lead, delegate, and perform daily patient care together with your colleagues. We have a four-week introductory program to ensure you feel secure and gain insight into the entire clinic's operations. If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will participate in the hospital's introductory program, the clinical foundation year, during your first year of employment. We work with individual schedule planning and have weekend shifts distributed over two weekends in five weeks. About You We are looking for a licensed nurse, preferably with experience in emergency care, surgical, or oncology care, but this is not a requirement. If you are a newly graduated nurse looking forward to an exciting, enjoyable, and rewarding first workplace with many friendly and helpful colleagues, we also welcome your application. We seek candidates who enjoy variation in work pace, are collaborative, and like being part of our interdisciplinary team consisting of doctors, dietitians, nursing assistants, nurses, and physiotherapists. Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis, so do not hesitate to submit your application! Meet Some of Our Employees - Sahlgrenska University Hospital In the event of recruiting nurses/doctors with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the relevant position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates. As a newly graduated nurse, you will participate in the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our introductory program. The clinical foundation year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training at the Simulation Center. Additionally, it involves service in at least two different departments to broaden your competence. About Västra Götaland Region Västra Götaland Region exists for the people of Västra Götaland.
