About Us The Psychiatric Emergency Department serves the comprehensive adult psychiatry at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. We are located at Östra Hospital. Our patient group consists of individuals over 18 years old with acute psychiatric issues requiring immediate assessment for appropriate care, either through inpatient psychiatric care, outpatient psychiatric services, or follow-up at a healthcare center. The emergency department's mandate also includes the Consultation Physician Function, Self-Protection Unit, and Psychiatry Ambulance. The work group consists of 46 employees. Job Responsibilities All nurses here have a central role with significant responsibility. This position also involves being a team leader for both nurses and care assistants. You will collaborate closely with primary and on-call physicians. Your workday offers numerous contact points – you'll have ongoing dialogue with ambulance personnel, other emergency departments, social services, police, NTE, and receiving ward departments. The role also includes some telephone consultation for 1177. A crucial part of your responsibility is to assess, prioritize, and re-prioritize patients before medical evaluation – always focusing on creating a smooth and safe patient flow. The work is varied, and the pace can change quickly – requiring flexibility, strong collaboration skills, and confidence in delegating and making quick decisions. You will help build a positive work environment, with collaboration and teamwork in focus. Mentoring students, actively participating in improvement work, and eventually introducing new employees and taking on more qualified tasks are important and natural parts of your professional development. The department offers excellent conditions for further education and professional training. The work requires you to be comfortable in your leadership function and able to delegate tasks. You must be capable of complex assessments in challenging situations and know when and where to seek help from other instances. We will ensure you receive extended on-the-job training and internal leadership training. About You Are you a licensed nurse with genuine interest in emergency psychiatry? Meet some of our employees - Sahlgrenska University Hospital In the event of recruiting a physician/nurse with foreign certification/specialist credentials, the position will be preceded by a process to meet requirements for Swedish certification/specialist credentials. New graduate nurses will be part of the Clinical Base Year, our introduction program. The Clinical Base Year is mandatory and lasts throughout the first year of employment. It includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training at the Simulation Center. Additionally, you will rotate through at least two different departments to broaden your competence.
