About this role
About Us
At Department 58, we manage Region Blekinge's hospital beds for acute stroke care and, when space allows, patients with neurological diseases.
The department is also responsible for "Save the Brain" alerts in eastern Blekinge. Our future ambition is to enable direct admission for all acute stroke patients to Department 58.
As an employee, we offer benefits such as wellness allowance, free gym access, group training, and flexible working hours.
About the Job
Our work tasks vary from day to day. Through teamwork, we collaborate with multiple professionals including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, counselors, speech therapists, and others.
Our department provides care for stroke patients from acute treatment until discharge or transfer to rehabilitation. A nurse on the ward is responsible for "Save the Brain" alerts; they meet the ambulance at radiology and can initiate thrombolysis treatment immediately. We actively work to reduce our treatment times and develop stroke care in all areas. Before becoming responsible for "Save the Brain" alerts, you will become familiar with the department and complete our internal training. We also care for patients with neurological conditions such as brain tumors, MS, ALS, Parkinson's, epilepsy, dizziness, and headaches. The department currently has 14 care beds divided into 2 care teams.
Our work is based on a person-centered approach and a holistic patient perspective.
The department currently has two care teams staffed by nurses and nursing assistants. Weekdays from 7-15, coordinators are present to handle phone calls, book transportation, schedule examinations, prepare for discharges, and more.
We offer opportunities for professional development. All staff can attend stroke competence training. We use a new web-based training that also provides 3 university credits. We offer various internal training, and with interest, you may have the opportunity to attend relevant external further education.
The position involves rotation work covering day, evening, night, and weekend shifts.
About You
We are seeking a licensed nurse. Previous professional experience is valuable, but newly graduated nurses are also warmly welcome. As a person, it's important that you are attentive, open, and communicative. You take initiative and address matters proactively. You have good collaboration skills and actively contribute to a positive work environment. We will place significant emphasis on personal suitability and collaboration ability.
