About this role

Department of Ear, Nose, and Throat Diseases We are Uppsala University Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we serve two million people in Central Sweden. There is always something happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both challenging trials and wonderful events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se. We welcome your application! Our Operations The Department of Ear, Nose, and Throat Diseases (ENT) diagnoses and treats diseases and conditions affecting the ears, nose, sinuses, oral cavity, upper airways, as well as hearing and balance. We primarily operate as a surgical department with both planned and emergency services. The surgeries can range from simpler procedures to more extensive tumor surgery in the head and neck area. We also have an emergency service in the form of an ENT walk-in clinic, which operates during evenings, nights, and weekends, staffed by personnel from the department. The walk-in clinic receives patients with various issues, including infections in the head and neck area, nosebleeds, dizziness, and severe airway obstructions. The department has 13 patient beds, all in single rooms, and patients are organized into care teams staffed by nursing assistants and registered nurses. We care for both children and adults, with lengths of stay varying from less than a day to several weeks. Your Mission As a part-time employed nurse in 85F1, you will be asked if you want and can work. This will occur both in the short and long term. You determine how many shifts you book, but you need to work continuously to stay updated. The nursing needs of our patients are highly varied, but there is a strong focus on highly specialized care where you will contribute knowledge and engagement that helps people feel secure. Basic nursing includes pre- and post-operative care, while specialized nursing involves airway issues, bleeding from the nose and throat, and care for tracheostomized patients. In a later stage, work at the walk-in clinic may also be included. One of the department's specialties is diseases of the upper airways, particularly the care of tracheostomized patients. If you do not have experience with tracheostomy, training will be provided. Introduction will be conducted with an experienced nurse. Your Qualifications We are looking for a qualified nurse, preferably with a few years of experience. Experience in ear, nose, and throat work is an advantage. As a person, you are stable, solution-oriented, confident, and empathetic. You are responsible, always have the patient in focus, and appreciate teamwork. As a part-time employee, you should be flexible. Your Competence We offer a part-time employment contract with a start date to be agreed upon. The position is temporary until December 31, 2025, with a chance for extension. We seek individuals who can work all hours of the day, so please indicate in your application your preferred working hours: day/evening, night only, or rotation. We Offer With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/). You will receive a tailored onboarding experience alongside a mentor, with the introduction adjusted to your prior knowledge to ensure you feel secure in your role with us. Want to know more?
