Job Description
As a nurse, you will work in a team alongside various professionals. You will be responsible for and lead the team in specific and basic nursing care during your shift. One of our greatest strengths is communication, which ensures that work flows smoothly during the shift.
The oncology section conducts both planned and emergency operations and cares for patients in both curative and palliative stages. Oncological nursing is a central part of your work, including cytostatic treatment, radiation therapy, managing side effects and various complications that may arise during treatment, pain management, and palliative care. We place great emphasis on providing a good response characterized by respect and ethics within the team and patient interactions. The team cares for adult patients with various cancer diagnoses, meaning your work will be varied and include many different tasks. These tasks include cytostatic handling, antibiotic administration, and transfusions, often given via central venous access.
Work Group
We are a cheerful team that enjoys working together and supports each other in daily tasks. We use reflection after each shift to highlight the positives and negatives of the day. The department has a reception nurse who provides daily support for each team, as well as a coordinator who manages much of the administrative work. Additionally, there are four lead nurses who have extra responsibilities for you as a newcomer. There is an oncology on-call service available around the clock, which is also responsible for rounds during weekends. A pharmacist stocks the medication cart, medication dispenser, and basic medication supplies. We also have a service host who manages ordering and restocking supplies. The unit also has a meal host.
About You
You are a licensed nurse or a licensed specialist nurse in oncology or medical care. At the Cancer and Pulmonary Care Unit (CoL), there are opportunities for development, whether you are a newcomer, experienced, or a specialist nurse.
You thrive as part of a multidisciplinary team with the patient at the center, where all professional categories learn from each other. You have a good empathetic ability to understand someone else's perspective or situation without taking over their feelings.
We are looking for someone who finds it easy to work independently and collaborates well with others. You create engagement and participation. You also have the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively.
As you will be in constant dialogue with inpatients, relatives, colleagues, and other services, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. You also need to be able to handle various IT systems.
