About this role
We are looking for a licensed nurse who is interested in developing the electrophysiology (EP) operations at the Thorax Center.
The responsibilities include managing EP systems and caring for patients during EP examinations, ablation procedures, and device insertions. Experience in acute cardiac care and/or with EP systems is an advantage.
About the Job
As a nurse with us, you will receive training on the systems used in connection with ablations and EP examinations. You will also assist in sterile conditions during advanced examinations and take on the role of the responsible nurse for patients in the lab. When you start with us, you will receive individualized training with experienced colleagues for support and ongoing professional development. Your primary placement will be in the ablation lab, but some duties may also occur in the lab performing coronary angiography or TAVI.
About Us
The Thorax Center offers a broad and varied work environment, providing both acute and planned services. We have full-time responsibility for coronary angiography/PCI treatments as well as thoracic surgery. We are a professional knowledge organization characterized by high-quality care, a willingness to develop, responsibility, and participation. The clinic's mission is to provide residents of Blekinge, Kronoberg, and parts of Skåne access to highly specialized cardiology, including heart and lung surgery, highly specialized and specialized care in invasive electrophysiology, pacemakers, ICD/CRT, invasive cardiology/PCI, and TAVI. The catchment area for the highly specialized care corresponds to approximately 330,000 residents.
The clinic has around 250 employees distributed across wards, outpatient services, surgical operations, intensive care units, and radiology departments. Our goal is to create individual opportunities for skill enhancement and development, as well as the possibility to conduct research and advancement within the clinic. The clinic has two instructional nurses who contribute to continuing education and development for all staff categories. Flexible working hours, wellness benefits, and free access to the gym are perks available to staff. We also actively work on evaluating our workflows and patient processes to best tailor care to each individual.
The cardiology operations with HIA/post-care are conducted in Karlskrona and Karlshamn in close collaboration with coronary angiography/PCI interventionists, thoracic surgeons, and thoracic anesthesiologists, with short decision-making paths in a stimulating multidisciplinary environment.
The primary mission is to provide highly specialized cardiac care to the residents of Blekinge and Kronoberg.
At the thoracic radiology department, both acute and planned procedures are performed. In addition to coronary angiography (coronary angiography) and PCI, TAVI implantations, ablations, and EP investigations are conducted. The work is mainly performed during daytime hours (Monday to Friday), and there is an on-call team available around the clock for emergency situations.
The patient base is estimated at approximately 1,900 coronary angiographies/PCIs, about 85 TAVI implantations, and around 300 ablations per year.
The work is conducted in teams, and there are several job categories employed and/or connected to thoracic radiology. Interventionists, anesthesiologists, cardiologists, electrophysiologists, ICU, and anesthesia nurses work in thoracic radiology but have tasks throughout the entire clinic. The staffing employed in thoracic radiology consists of radiology nurses and licensed nurses. The responsibilities of thoracic radiology also include admitting patients for planned examinations (currently the first patient on the schedule) as well as lung radiography in THIVA and thoracic wards (by the radiology nurses).
