About this role

Workplace Description The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for youth and adults with substance abuse issues. We provide this care in specialized youth homes and LVM homes across the country. SiS also implements secure youth care and funds research to develop care and treatment. Regardless of where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you contribute to creating life-changing transformations. SiS Youth Home Bärby, located outside Uppsala, accommodates non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial issues, criminal behavior, substance abuse problems, sexually inappropriate behaviors, and boys with special supervision needs. The institution also has a department for reception and needs assessment. We aim to strengthen the institution by adding another dedicated part-time nurse. The institution operates under a central quality unit with treatment secretaries, treatment coordinators, and a healthcare organization consisting of nurses, psychologists, and consulting physicians. Organizationally, the nurse reports to the quality manager and has significant responsibility and influence regarding the health and healthcare needs of the youth. Job Description As a nurse at SiS Youth Home Bärby, you will collaborate with other professionals in an important societal mission that contributes to change. Here, you serve as a support function for treatment staff regarding issues related to the health and healthcare needs of the youth. Main responsibilities and areas of work include medication management, health assessments, nursing interventions, and collaboration with both internal and external parties regarding healthcare during admission, throughout the care period, and prior to discharge or transfer within SiS, as well as participation in the student health team. Qualifications • Licensed nurse with several years of experience. • Familiarity with documentation and writing medical records. • Proficient in the Swedish language. Particularly relevant experience includes working with youth in psychiatry, substance abuse, or student health. It is essential that you have an interest in working with youth exhibiting behavioral issues and that you are skilled at establishing collaboration with both youth and staff. You need to have a good ability to plan and organize your work, as well as the capacity to prioritize your tasks based on emerging needs. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. We are looking for someone with high personal maturity, who is secure and stable. You communicate clearly, are attentive and affirming in your interactions with youth. You are capable of building alliances and creating collaborations with youth exhibiting challenging behaviors, and you can instill trust and confidence in them. At SiS, we value good employee relations. This means that as an employee, you take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and foster good collaboration.
